Another mass shooting.

When you think about it a gun is just a metal tube with a spring to push a bullet in, a pin to tap the back and a way of clearing it before the next round.

I'd expect to see A LOT MORE homemade gun killings with it becoming so cheap and easy to design/manufacture things in your own home.

If you've a kiln you can even 3D print metal objects now on a normal 3D printer.
I'd love to see this cottage industry grow. The number of deaths due to home made guns misfiring will be entertaining to read about. Also might get me to watch u-tube.

Do you really believe that anybody can make guns that will be able to reproduce the firepower of the ar15?

Maybe the proper question is why do you think they wouldn't?

We're literally a compendium of all human knowledge accessible in milliseconds.

The killer in CA used kits to build his gun. It wasn't home made. The gun lobby and gun owners have plenty of loopholes to exploit in order to get their killing machines. You know that lawmakers aren't serious about gun control. If they were, loopholes like that wouldn't exist so the felon could just order a kit to assemble his gun. Too funny you'd call this home made.

I absolutely don't think the shithead in CA could have built an AR15 from scratch.

It's possible to build something that could fire a single shot from primitive materials and it's those that I actually want them to make. The misfires will be glorious.

No offense but youre just straight wrong on this one. In Afghanistan for example there's a huge illicit gun manufacturing industry and they haven't near the technology or raw materials we have at consumer level here.

Here we can buy a 3D printer and a 4ft^2 CNC for less than $1000.

Guns are glorified and made to seem super difficult and complicated when in reality they're just metal machined to high tolerances.

An AK47 for example only has something like 16 working parts.

Home made? I'm not talking about illicit factories. I'm talking home made. The dirt poor felon didn't have lathes and the kind of equipment to make those components himself.

3-D printing is capable of crude weapons but an AK-47? Accessible to the dirt poor felon? There is a growing capability in 3D printing that will eventually make that kind of tech available to that turd but not today.

I keep saying that gun safety and reducing gun deaths requires the buy-in by of gun owners. It's a matter of attitude from the general public. Does Canada have rampant illegal gun manufacturing? Britain, France? These are all places where there isn't a large militant group of gun owners. I keep saying if gun owners don't take ownership for solving this problem, eventually the super majority will come down hard on the gun industry.

Dude, I don't know why a tool offends you so much.

Sure we have to restrict access to certain people the way we do other legal yet dangerous items but youre demonizing a tool.

I'm not talking illicit gun factories, I'm talking cottage industry.

And for the record, you can 3D print in brass, copper, steel, etc just by buying a special type of filament and sintering the parts.

Is that the best you've got?

This is why gun control never happens, it's an exercise in reduction to absurdity spurred by emotion rather than logic.

Neither Democrats or Republicans extoll the solution because the best solution is in the abandoned middle ground.

The only reason illicit cottage manufacturing of firearms doesn't happen here already is because there's already "a gun behind every blade of grass".

I'm not offended by guns. I'm offended that gun owners don't care about unnecessary gun related homicides, and accidents that cause deaths and injuries, I'm not demonizing guns or gun owners either. I don't want you and other gun owners to face draconian laws and restrictions. I'm merely pointing out that the number of gun owners is declining. There are only 35% of households in this country that have a gun in them. In 1970, the number was more than 50%. There is no sign that the decline is leveling off, eventually, the non-gun owning public is going to say enough.

All I hear from the gun owning minority are either excuses or nothing can be done. That's not true. If the gun owning minority doesn't clean up their industry and reduce gun homicides, and accidents that cause deaths and injuries, eventually the choices will be made for them. It's just simple arithmetic. Your population group is declining and we will reach a tipping point where the majority say enough. We've had three mass shootings this week. I'd say if that continues the tipping point is closer in time than ever before.

Regarding "cottage industry". If a person manufactures guns for sale or distribution without a license, it is an illicit gun factory.

So, quit giving me excuses. It is in the hands of gun owners to fix this problem right now.

But I'm not saying nothing can be done, I'm saying we need to use sense.

We need background checks, cool down periods of months, licensing, registration.

But primarily we also need to fix our mental health system because at the minute it's a case of "take these pills I get a kickback for prescribing".

Let's not get all crazy

I'm a jeweler, not a blacksmith
Do you not pour your own metals though? I always avoided platinum for the reason that apparently it needs ridiculous high temperatures to melt.

I was just joking. Otherwise I would have made a focke wulf 190
Apologies, I'm just starting to get tired of being told I'm irresponsible and dangerous because I own guns.

And that it's somehow my responsibility to get gun control passed because I own guns.

Mass shootings are nothing to do with me just because I own guns, Id to even apply to the Feds for permission to buy my big rifle (what a shit-show that was btw).

Again you've shown how fucking retarded you are. You can not simply purchase "a kit" to assemble a firearm without also going through a FFL. Next time you comment about something you know nothing about you should do a little research.
sounds like someone is stocking up on phallic symbols to feel better about his tiny penis.

You can purchase bits and pieces from everywhere, only certain parts are restricted. Receivers and the like (which are also the easiest to home brew).

Read the news. The killer assembled his gun from a kit he bought somewhere. Only a retard would care about the details of how he got it or what channels etc. The mother fucker killed his wife and rampaged at a school and you call me retarded not knowing transaction details. Talk about callous fucking gun owner, you are an example right there.

If it's just about feeling better for correcting a meaningless detail, then let me throw you this bone

4+4 = 7

Yeah, retarded, right?
