Another "i want to move to cali" thread

Yes this is another one of these threads. I'm considering moving to california...and yes part of that motivation is the ability to legally grow. Now before anyone goes on about how it's flooded...and cost of living is high...and you need so much money to start growing and what not...I already have a job making a very comfortable (1800 a week) living. I run part of a company from home so I have the ability to work from anywhere in the country. The thing is I have to figure out where I want to settle down for a while since I will have to hire people soon and start an office where ever I decide to stay.

So...please some suggestions on lax places to grow...with decent rent prices (around 2k a month for a 3 bedroom house) and a pretty good amount of things to keep myself entertained with. Another drivig force for moving to california is BMW parts are easier to find also...hahaha. Seems like everyone lives in cali...and I'm sure there is a reason for it.

Holy Shit! 2000 for a 3 bedroom! Well then let me suggest Mammoth Lakes, a nice mountain town where Mammoth mountain ski area is. Far from any city, but nice place. Any where in Cali you dont have possesion limits, grow limits are 99 plants, per the federal 5 year minimum if you have more then 99. The Cali supreme court ruled last year, or maybe the year before that limits on patients were unconstitutional. So there you have my .02

Sonoma County if you want to be close to be the Bay but not too close to the bay - nice artsy upscale without being overpriced farm/hippie feeling. Plant limit is 30. And of course Santa Cruz county - that entire area is really pretty with decent people and a high limit. These are both Norcal - if you are moving to CA to grow you might as well be in the North.

I've heard santa cruz is nice. It just seems that everytime I meet people from cali...the describe it like its a place not even in the united states....and I'm totally ready for a huge change. I just moved back to NC from new york city...and I'm already bored out of my mind...but at the same time NYC wasnt for me...too cold and the people are rude. Not to mention the roads were horrible and cops where assholes.

Keep the suggestions coming guys i appreciate it. I'm gonna look all of these places up.

Is there anywhere to find mammoth lakes rental houses....seems like all I can find are vacation rentals.

any where up north really. down in so cal 3 bedrooms go for $2500-3000 plus electricity to grow unless you want to live in a not so nice part of ca it will run you about $1500-2000 for a 3 bedroom inflation is fucking California up gas $3.97 for 87
i would suggest Santa Rosa as growing conditions are ideal for outdoor and indoor

p.s if you want fun LA if you want mountains and less cops up north

Santa Cruz has a lot of friendly people... I often go out there to pick up meds in between crops... beautiful place bro and I would have it high on your list of places to check out.
 By the way... Welcome to Cai!

While Mammoth is beautiful, you'll be bored in a month. Go for Northern Cali. Saf Fran has a soul...Los Angeles does not.

I'm confused. Why do u want to grow? You make decent money. You're probably too busy to run a full blown commercial op. California is one of the most expensive states to live in. Why not move somewhere cheap? Seems like any extra $$$ you get from growing here in Cali will just be spent on the higher cost of living here.

Yeah well I lived very comfy in NYC...and I know cali prices arent that high. I'm just looking for a change of scenery...and I work from home so I do have lots of time to devote to growing. I took 4 years of horticulture also...so that fuels it also. If I'm going to do some hobby growing....might as well be pot. I'm not on here with dreams to get rich from growing....just some more supplemental income to fund my car hobby and something for my anxiety.

I was born & raised here in northern cal., it is beautiful...Redwoods, pacific ocean, San Fran. I'm a fourth generation Apple & grape farmer and found the climate to be excellent with all types of gardening & plants. When the fog rolls in through the redwoods its surreal.
I've been to Mammoth Mtn. snowmobiling, the most gorgeous scenery I've ever seen...Ansel Adam's the famous photographer loved that place. A must place to visit. Devils post pile incrediable. It doesn't snow where I live, but within driving distance. My advice is to come check out, look at the different area's & get a feel. Peace & good luck with your search.:peace:

How can I tell if a house is cool with growing or not? I don't want to rent something and have a bunch of issues. I'm checking all over the place. I've been looking at mendocino but not alot of houses on CL that fit the bill. Santa Cruz is nice but the prices are crazy! Any other good suggestions?

Man if i were you i would fly out here for a week and just hit it in a rental. LA is great but theres hella people here , millions. You could get a decent place for 2gs a month. My girl has a nice 1 bed apartment in hollywood. She pays 1800.00 so it gets pricey depending on where you wanna live. But if you do choose to live here get ready for the traffic that your going to be sitting in while enjoying your car hobby. 7-10am traffic ,3-7pm traffic. 6 lanes of fuck my life.

Just pick beautiful wilderness scenery privacy or the beach and Tig Ol' bitties !!!!! (but your going to be living right next to people)

I'm moving out there in half a year and looked at mt Shasta area, outskirts towns outside redding, mendo eureka arcata and I have basically narrowed my focus to Sonoma county a place in the red woods or outside Santa rosa, semi rural but close enough to drive to San Fran, good climate right location relaxed area. Will of course check it out before I decide for certain

So I've decided that I'm moving to the san diego area. I like the climate there....and have heard nothing but amazing things so far. And the growing laws seem pretty decent.

Not to be a dick but Shasta and Sonoma are the worst places and not very weed friendly at all!

Southern cali if you like to get out and have fun. Nor cal if you can afford a little land for privacy and growing.

Going from city rules Shasta has clamped down big time.
If your buying a home then its not as a big deal and they like "out of site out of mind"

I recall the Sonoma city making a huge trouble for the mendo people as they are so close.

Mendo is great but the prices are very high and the fog sux!
