grow my own since the cost and locating decent herb is just ridiculous! Hi Folks, Just getting back into growin, seems things and methods have gotten so much better since I first grew the weed of life...(Early/Mid 70s)..Back then we would do what is now called gorilla grow..To us it was just playin the part of Johnny Appleseed..LOL! Did indoor as well, just plain dirt from a farmers field..Nothing special..Seeds came from the bag or pound you bought, didn't know sex of seeds nor cared then..But the plants did grow and produce..Of course we smoked it all, weed, seed, and stems..Now with the science backing it - We know to only use the female and keep her locked away from the boys.
Been toking on herb since early 70s....You could get a 4 finger lid (bag) for round $20-$25..Of some pretty good smoke - Like Acapulco Gold, Colombian, Panama Red, Mex and Vietnamese..Sure wish I had seeds from those..LOL
Any way, I'm back on the block growing a couple of plants using some bag seed I got from a brother up in the Vol state, no idea what strain they are nor their sex. Figured I'd get some experience before investing in some high dollar seed.. Of my 3 plants, 1 is in a soil mix and the other 2 are in hempy, (what a great idea that hempy)..All seem to be doing well, not as good as some of the grows I've seen here but perhaps I'll get some experience and bud as well.

http://www.barneysfarm.com/?l=en&i=500 Acapulco Gold Thanks to recent advances in marijuana genetics we’ve pioneered, the quality of our Acapulco Gold goes beyond the often rhapsodized smoke of days past. Just as importantly for us, however, was capturing its spirit. Like the original namesake, these gorgeous, firm colas are flecked with gold and reddish brown, with very visible THC crystals. The intense fruit cocktail of flavors pack a strong sensation that really lingers. Acapulco Gold is sativa dominant, offering a long lasting high that balances upbeat effects with body-relaxing, stress reducing calmness. Can still get most of those strains you mentioned, just gotta dig around a bit ;)

I read a book called the Vulture Factory I think. It mentioned Panama Red. Best fictional book I ever read. What lights did you use indoors in the 70's?

We used the strongest florescent shop lights we could find..Plants did not produce anything like I see on the grow sites..
