Well that seems to have worked!
I have a dedicated 20 amp underground line in there. Climate control will obviously be an issue but I'm hoping a 5,000 BTU AC unit and a 1,000 watt wall heater will keep me in the sweet spot. The finished inside dimensions are 3 1/2ft x 5 1/2ft at roughly 6 ft high. Call it 120 cubic feet.
Insulation's done. See the pic. Drywallin' at the mo ...
Planning ahead for ventilation. 6" vents. 2nd pic.
My thought process on exactly what I should build to grow in could be set to the theme song from Jeopardy. The designs in my head change on almost an hourly basis!
I do think RDWC is the best thing for a new guy tho which is why I'm posting up here. The larger volume of water has to be harder to mess up.
I have heard the the "Cool Waters No Lights" sermon. I'm a believer!
Two Luma 400w batwings with HPS and MH bulbs are in the house.
And that's about it.
What would you guys build in there?

Yeah. A good lock will be needed.
Not too worried tho. SoCal. Prop 215 compliant.
You wouldn't believe it but my neighbor on the other side just got accepted into the Sherrif's Academy. He's cool with me tho and I like him too. We can't smoke together but there have been the ocassional bouts with the bottle .....

I take it you're sitting the coolers against the back wall, in front of the door.
I'd rig something so I can go in at lights on without it being seen when I open the door too.
Same thing for when lights are off, if need be.
I know you don't have much room.

BB! Judging by the vegetation in your pic we must live in similar environments. I feel better already! I just need some bigger sheds .....
On the insulation I originally started out with the standard R13 pink stuff for 3 1/2" walls, but couldn't suck the drywall down over it. Screws just busted thru. In desperation I got down in a corner and shoved like a mutha fuggah. The net result of that was a piece of hamburger on my thumb from a spinning No2 Phillips. Now there's a picture no one wants to see!
So I settled for the foil backed 1 1/2" foam you see in the pics. It's R9. Did the lid and 3 walls with that. The front wall and door are both standard 2 x 4 construction so the pink will do there.
I bought a 1000 watt bathroom style wall heater to go in the front wall. It pulls 8.6A plus 800 watts of light and when I add all the accessories that's just about all the 20A energy budget will allow. I'm thinking it'll be enough but we'll see .....
The heater also has a 80 CFM fan and while I wanted to mount it down low because heat rises, that's where the plants are gonna be! So it'll be up high in a corner with the AC. Engineering's always a compromise.

Being an early riser I plan on slipping out there at dawn each day and you're right, I'll be needing to go dark during the daylight hours.

with this winter weather I'm running the heater even with the lights on.
Over engineering. The bane of all growers.

I'm still not subbin' or reppin', but I've been reading every post that goes up here everyday. When I first got interested in cultivation I naturally turned to the net. Found a buncha different forums but somehow I always seemed to come back to RIU. Even then I was skipping around the RIU site for awhile, but eventually .... I settled in here. This is where I'm learning the most, a great group of potheads, no flame wars, I mean really guys, how much balls does it take to insult someone over the internet?
I never go there.
So I'm here to stay and am feverisly working on my Grow Box. Here's a pic of the Climate Control Corner in mock up ..

Apparently I'm still not using the site right. After I did a preview of that pic to make sure it wasn't a giant the fool thing cut me off. More likely the fool's me ....
But I got more.
I'm not gonna preview that one but as you can see the door is halfway insulated.
And then skinned.
I won't begin to take credit for the drywall in the next pic. I hung it, but when my son-in-law found out, (drywaller by trade), it was like "git outa my way!" I thought he was gonna give me an elbow.
I'm sure the plants won't care but he calls that a Mission texture. Kinds reminds me of old school lath and plaster walls.
He's a grower too BTW. 1st harvest in about a week. The family that parties together stays together.
And, if the powers that be will let me, I have one more pic and a question.
Should I be doing something with this floor? You can see the 2x4 threshold I left in when I framed the front wall. Lot stronger that way and how hard is it to step over a 2x4? I coooould throw down an inch of that fiberboard isulation with a 1/2' plywood deck and come up roughly even wit' dat 2x4. Son-in-Law's down for it. He even wants white linoleum.
What's next? Baseboards?

"Bug Tight" sounds good. I hadn't considered that at all. The floor is made out of tongue and groove planks with several decades of dirt built up in the grooves, but if you poured water in there it would eventually run through. No seal. And there's no telling what kind of microbial life might be lurking under that shed.
Now that I think about it, it's been years ago, but there was a rabbit living under there for awhile!

I took redi jedi and nbid's "bug tight" advice too heart and probably went overboard. I can't help myself ....
New floor.
An inch of insulation and 1/2" of plywood met up nice with the 2x4 threshold, but no, that wasn't good enough for me! LOL! I had some time on my hands and some Fixall in the truck, so I went ahead and filled/leveled all the gaps. No bugs thru there.
I am having a problem with gaps on the door tho, and this is why I hate effin' wood.
There's a smaller gap at the top too. I'm hoping I can use some draw latches on the outside to suck it down to where I can weather strip it. We'll see.
