Another : First time bagseed

first time grow, using bagseeds that i collected that were a combination from two bags i got a while back. i will be using FFOF soil with nutrients but have not decided which ones yet. my box's dimensions are 21"x21"x3ft. for lighting i have 3 cfls currently. 2 daytime 26w 100 equivalent and a single 2700k. trying to use full spectrum instead of just daytime. just my preference. I rotate the plants around every 12-24 hours to evenly distribute the light.

i will be installing a 150w hps and using the cfl's as extra. i am waiting to transplant into pots until the hps goes in.

here are some pics, cell phone pics but i have seen worse quality on here so will post them :)

they are a tiny bit stretched, they are only 2-3 inches tall if that. two plants on the left hand side look to be the same strain, the right hand side one has a darker stem and has been growing slowly but surely.

:joint::joint::joint:

post any comments or suggestions. i have done alot of forum reading but am always open to suggestions.

got the hps installed on wednesday. repotted them last sunday. they have been needing water every other day. the cabinet stays around 80 degrees.

Got my Foxfarm nutrients in; they include big bloom, grow big, tiger bloom, open sesame, beastie bloomz, and chaching. I got them all on ebay for around 18 dollars.

They are in FFOF soil and have been for almost a week. is it ok to start the first part of the nutrients or will it be too much for them in the new soil. kinda nervous about doing nutrients.

Time for pictures

2 weeks old - had the plants in the corner to try and avoid any stress moving from the cfl's to the hps.

2 1/2 weeks old - waited a few days and moved the plants to the center of the box and raised them up closer to the light. they love the hps :) also topped both of them yesterday. hopefully i did it right :eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Looks great. Lets hope for females.
. .. sub'd

thanks all, really hoping for girls :)

Lookin' real good so far man. & I would suggest you waiting at least 2 weeks to start nutrients because FFOF soil, which I'm using as well right now with my bagseed, already comes with various things that feed your plant like bat guano, worm castings & whatnot. It's not like any old regular soil. My plant was great without any ferts until like week 3 when it started to show some slight deficiencies. Check my grow out

Dude on thing I noticed with growing bagseed vs the breeder strains in my grow is that the bagseed has some awesome hybrid vigor. Well mine does at least and I hope yours does as well. Lets get some freaking females out of them.

Seeds were just from some decent mids. I dont have much to compare it to thought as far as growth vigor. They are both trying real hard though :)

Hopefully i can smoke that bags sisters here in a few months.

Oh and when you can, as the plants start getting bigger & bigger, I suggest you buy 3 Y-splitters from home depot & that way you can double your light wattage by getting 3 more bulbs, & you'll prolly wanna make 2 of those 3 lights, Soft White 2700k's so you can have better light for flowering.

What hps system did u get? I was going to get the floralux mini but ended up getting a sun system. Your 100w of cfls vs. the 150w hps, on a scale of 1-10 how much brighter is the hps? I have 252w of cfls and i am still thinking the hps would be better.

on a scale from 1-10 i would put the cfls at a 5 and the hps at a 8-9. the hps's light seems to be alot brighter and and definitely more intense. more yellow then the 5600k cfl's i was using but that is expected as its a full spectrum.

i got a mini sunburst 150W out of a hydrofarm catalog from a local dealer. wanted to keep the money local, ya know? it was 90 dollars so i figure it was only about at most 5-10 bucks more then buying from htgsupply after paying shipping etc, the money stayed local as i supported my local hydro shop, and i didnt have to have it shipped to my house. i also have somewhere to take it if it ever fails. no shipping it back to anywhere, i walk in to the store and they take care of it if its under warranty.

with the 3 cfl's i had real close i would say that the amount of heat that was put out is about the same as the hps a good 12 inches away. i have a fan pointing at the bulb and it keeps my box a nice constant low 80's with outside box temps being in the mid 70's

I feel there is alot less worrying if there is enough light with the hps compared to the cfl's.

does it look like i topped them correctly?

pictures are crappy but some are ok. let me know what everyone thinks. the discoloration on the older leaf is from when it was young it got some sun bleaching/burn. all new growth is nice and dark. looking back on the calendar i topped them both 2 days ago.

Awesome, was wondering how far away i was going to put my hps from my plants. ill start at 12".

Your plant is looking real healthy. You topped it right, next time wait till at least the 5th node then top, the bottom node does't count really. Thats about where i topped my smaller plant.

i started mine as far as i could ( my box is around 30 inches high). after the pot and the light fixture and hangers i believe it was around 16 inches or so. after two days i raised them on top of a box to get them closer. they reside around a 10 inches now.

Sweet. I guess ill play with the height of the hps, seeing how hot it gets first will help a lot. Does hps run really hot? Like if i touched it, it would burn the shit out of me? Ill make sure where i hang it, it will have fail safes in case the light falls. Dont need it to burn down my house really. :D
