An Ethical Pot Question

I wanna poll you guys on an interesting question that came up for a group of us this year.
I am posting it in this forum because it seemed the most appropriate of those offered.
We were hiking through public land and found an untended guerilla grow. All of us agreed that we would never sneak onto private property and steal somebody's crop; but our little group argued for days about the ethics of snatching up untended plants on public land.
What do you think?

The chances of getting shot by the guys that planted it, make it a not-so-good idea, especially if you:
a) talk about it
b) go back a second time

But what makes you say its untended? Maybe the guy just left for the weekend :p

So far, that's 1 "probably not, it might be dangerous", and 1 "You didn't grow it so don't take it." Any other opinions?

For all you know some guy grew some shit years ago, and the seeds are still spreading. It's a fucking weed.

If you do take it, make sure it's proper to harvest, then again someone else might harvest it first.

If you're sure it's not on someone's property, there are no ethical dilemmas involved. You own the land(you're part of the public), it's yours.

Does it look at all tended to? Soil preparation? De-weeding? How many plants? If it's just 1 or 2, take one, if you want. If you find a large field, RUN, FORREST, RUN, those fuckers are the ones with the high chance of carrying fully loaded automatic weapons.

i say it is there fault for leaving it where a bunch of hikers/stoners could get at it, so if you stole it you could not be blamed. but then again how would you feel if some punks stole your baby out of the ground and smoked her before her prime? PISSED. i wouldnt touch it personally but my input dose say one thing and tell you to do another

u seen the newest ep of weeds? Silas picks out the ideal place to grow his mj outdoors, packs his shit up and takes a hike up there. walks through the trees and theres a doz guys with auto rifles and like 100 plants already growing there. looks like someone decided this was the perfect grow site a while ago

If it looked totally abandoned, I'd take the plant for sure.

If it looked like theres people who check up on it every so often, like if the ground was prepped or the soil was damp from just having been watered, I'd leave it there.

So yeah, pretty much if it's wild and nobodys claimed it, go for it, if not then just leave it be.

how did you know it was a guerilla grow not a surprise natural grow from the spread of seeds by animals birds wind etc? i probably wouldn't have touched it. i might've hung about to see if the gardener returned so i could make friends with a like minded person. nah i'd be gutted if my babies went missing, i'd be sick with rage. i'd leave it be. it's an interesting grey area though, what with the public land issue and all that

whomever decided to grow on public land had to account for this possibility.

haha yeah i wouldnt mind puting a bulllit in the fucker that stole mine and my fathers med op... steal plants on your own fucking property if thier wild i dont see ne thing wrong in comeing back when its done but what if its some one elses wild pot. you can take your chances but for all you know they can be watching you with thier guns ready. people put alot of dedication itno growing that some people would never understand how much a plant can mean 2 some one. only way i would steal weed is if people were growing on my property illegally. it could be a mexican grow op. i would be carful those guys basically live out thier

Some one might have planted it, on that basis I'd say no.

Besides, if it is some one else's do you really want the bad karma of taking some one else's weed on your back?

If it's ready to harvest take it. If not... wait. If you go back and it's gone..you waited too long.

I would have a hard time taking any, but... maybe a harder time leaving without?
:)
Leave it be. It's the good samaritan thing to do.
Do a check up if yuou want to at harvest, but BE CAREFUL.

Bad karma if you take it plus if i spent all that time tending those babies I would straight shoot your ass, but on the other hand I would sneak a couple buds for the hike back thats it.
