An Easy and Cheap DYI CFL Setup!

just got the materials yesterday a total cost of $10 at walmart. i'll post pics soon on my grow journal of the set up

way cool. And I mean cool. Having a welder and some steel plat e around I made the fixture on the right. runs alittle warm though when I put the 150-200 watt bulbs in.

here it is:hump::hump::hump:

Nice.. that is the best setup IMO. For CFL's. It's cheap and you don't need to fuck with it a lot. I LOVE that they have the plug-to-socket things.

Do people actually plug bulbs into their wall sockets? What are they used for other than growing setups? hmm j/w.

Thats Xactly The Set Up I Have Now...no The Adapters Dont Fall Out If U Have A Good Snug Fit It Works Wonders And U Can Find Items At Discount Stores!!!!!

I know, I spent so much time splicing, tripping breakers, melted my ring! in the process, and one day I find these little plugin sockets and I'm just engulfed in relief. I just hope more people who are doing the same thing I was doing become enlightened to the phenomenon of socket plugs!

I dont mind that I spent a ton of time splicing wire and rewiring stuff... It was fun, just nice to see an alternate method. As soon as I figured out it could be done I was on top of it.

how do u stop the ligth socket adapter plugs from falling out of the surge protected when u face the sockets pointing down? Wouldnt the weigth of the plug adapters,twin adapters and ligths pull em' rite out?

hmmm,i wonder if u could caulk the plug adapters to the surge protector?

good idea ?Or would it make bad connections,and make the set-up harder to modifiy later?

But over all very good idae dude
spread the prongs apart a little...2 100w cfl and y adapter dont weigh much...i just bought 2-40 inch surge protectors with 10 sockets apice at lowes for $26 each...with y adapters you could run 40 cfl lights off these if you wanted to...i will be mixing my bulbs...100w daylight and 100w soft white:idea:

lol I don't know how many times I've passed on this thread...

this thing is dope.... if I were ever to use cfl's this would be my way to go

i didn't read all replies (so this may have been said). I use this similar setup and use zip-ties instead of caulk to secure the adapters to surge protector. works great and is just a simpler way

Definitely great idea! I was so worried about finding a good setup until I ran into this thread using the search function...+repped!
