ambient temp vs. atmosphere temp

so I'm towards the end of designing a new room and I'm trying to work on my last kink, the ventilation and cooling, now when they say below 80 degrees, that's in reference to the atmosphere temperature correct..?

what about the ambient light temperature?

(thermostat post it on the wall vs one facing the light)

where does this fall and how do I apply it?

I don't think it matters. That's the point of the thermostat.
The light makes the room warmer so if you have air circulating with a fan the room should warm up evenly.

The radiation from the light doesn't have any significant warming effect on any surface of the grow room, so why would it preferentially heat up your thermostat?

one trying to figure out how hot is room you getting with X amount of light, X amount of fan and X amount of ac.

but when I placed my thermostat around the room I noticed that the ones that were directly into the light got up to 95, well the ones that were on the wall away from the light got to 85.

theoretically which one should I use as a baseline, the 1 against the wall correct?

your wording is confusing / doesn't make sense

when people talk about growing temps they are generally referring to the air temp of the grow room at canopy level.

keep your thermometer out of the light

I apologize, I was talking into my phone last night.

I'm trying to work out my cooling and my fans for this room, to see if I possibly need to upgrade, well there's thermometers that give me a reading in separate parts of the room, now some of them read 75 well I've had a few say upwords of 105. of course that would be directly under a light.

so that's what I was asking, don't use the temperature directly under the light use the temperature off in the distance at canapy level?

Hey jonjon, I think that you should start a new thread. Title it "How many BTU's do I need?" or "How much ac do I need?". Then give all of the specific details and ask for input. The details you need to provide: lighting (number, type, watts, are they vented...), grow area size, grow area insulation, approximate geographic location of grow, and your ventilation (do you have any, if so where are you drawing air into the grow space from).

With this info some of the more experienced growers will set you straight. Atmosphere temperature? Hehe, never heard anyone ask about that unless talking about space/high orbit travel. I'm guessing you're with the rest of us in the troposphere?

Your probably right lol, I was just in a rush and thought I would get a quick answer...

All I'm asking is if I should or shouldn't consider the higher temps directly underneath my light?

Also wondering about dark period, I heard 99% darkness will effect yield compared to 100%..?

Any info, if not I'll just start a new thread...

Thanks!
