Amber trichomes AND immature looking buds. How to determine if it's still too soon?

After approx 7 weeks of flower, I'm starting to see amber trichs, but only near the top. However, something in the neighborhood of 15% - 20% are looking amber. Down lower, it's still all clear and cloudy.

However, all the buds still have white hairs sticking out.

In other words, it doesn't look ready, but the trichs are turning amber. What to do?

bump.. i kinda have the same thing going on, but i have read that trichomes are the only factor to consider at harvest..

if youre completely sure those trichs are indeed amber then chop her down! you dont want more degradation to occur since its still going to happen even after harvest!

the pistils will turn brown on their own after you put them to dry...

With a strain I'm not familiar with I like to harvest some early, some late, some in between. Then try to decide which gives me the effect I enjoy most. If that's your only plant with no clones to carry on the strain, chop soon it looks close. Maybe within the next week. :bigjoint:

Just pull the ones looking done, and let the lower ones finish.
Small size may be due to something in your grow process, or strain related.
I wouldn't just wait for them to get bigger though, I would go by color like you say.

I like this idea, as only the top ones look amber. The rest still appear to need more time.

So, is there a method to harvesting some of the plant without causing it too much stress? Can you just take a scissor and chop away?
