am I using enough cfl's?

Hi everyone. new to this with some lighting questions. i have a 24x24x57 grow tent. I guess my first question would be how many plants could i comfortably fit in there my buddy said 4 but i feel like it would be cramped. any ways i have 4 100w=23w 5000k lights and one at 2700k. is that enough for a good veg for 2?3?or even 4 plants?

IMO no not really they will grow but more light will make then grow faster and bushier. I have 589 watts of fluorescent lighting in my small grow closet. My plants are small clones right now just starting veg. When I go to flower I swap to 3000K bulbs and add a few 42 watt 2700k CLFs to the center. I get HPS like results with this lighting and I grow 6-8 plants at a time.

depending on how many plants u want, rule of thumb is 100 watts per plant. not equivalent wattage, actual cfl watts.
6400k daylight lights for veg, and 2700k soft white for flower.

i run about 200-300watts on 1-2 plants.

yessir. less light = tall skinny plants. more light = bushy fat plants (in accordance with it's genetics). For one or two plants I've seen ppl get away with 200w with good yields but for 3 or 4, like ur saying, I would want 300-500w veg and 500-800w flower. Always use actual watts, equivalents don't mean shit

No. I use CFL's, and i have 12 of the 23 watt, 2 125 watt, and 4 4ft florescent shop lights on back wall. Area is 2ftx4ftx4ft high. While I have enough light to grow some nice plants with dense buds, I believe a good 600 watt grow light would work better. I could have bought a grow light for what it would have cost to buy all my lights, but I had most everything. Heat is an issue for me as that many lights put out a lot of heat, and an air cooled light would be an easier fix than the 9 120 mm fans i have currently running. I believe you have to have lights mounted low to make up for lack of light penetration and that is where back wall lights come into play. Oh, and I only grow 2 plants at a time. Average yields vary from 1 to 1.5 ounces a plant if I do 12/12 from seed with little or no lst, to 2.5 to 4 ounces depending on the amount of veg, and how much lst, or topping I do, with about 2.5 to 3 being more common yields. Hope there is some info here that is useful, as I just sampled a bud of chocolate heaven I have curing. Taste isn't quite there yet, but boy, can she kick you in the brain.

If you are using ONE you are using too many

Get with it LEDs are the bomb. See my thread and many others

I've got a 3x3 box that's 3foot tall in back and 4 foot tall in front, box is in attic, I have 1 250 watt cfl and 1 125 watt cfl, the 125 outlet can take up to 200 watt, they're self ballasted bulbs, but is my 250 + 125 enough light or should I switch to the 200 watt bulb, and with that powerful of cfl's how close should they be from the plant?
