Am I On The Right Track

I have always grew clones in soil this is my first grow in hydro. My plants started from seed back on July 1st. I placed them into the buckets two days ago. Today I notice the round leafs that first develop are turning yellow and drying out, the rest of the plant look good, is this normal.

Also any opinions on how they look would be great. One of the plants tips started to yellow, so I added 1/4 strength nuts to both of them when I moved them into the bucket.

If this is your first go at hydro some things you should know, and sorry if I am under estimating what you have already researched but I would hate for you to get discouraged.

Ph should be between 5.8 and 6.4.

A tsp. per gallon of Hydrogen Peroxide ( and yes the 3% does work just fine ) about 2 days after reservoir change goes a long way to protecting your crop from root rot. ( not safe for organic fertilizers though )

Water temps over 60 F are breeding grounds for bacteria. 55 F is money.

Also expect your plants to pretty much explode with life once they establish their roots.

wilsoncr17 the 3% h.p. you mentioned can it be the same one you buy a walmart or specific to gardening. This is my first run at hydro I looked into h202 h.p. but a little to expensive for me, but if I can use normal 3% from walmart would that be good enough? I have been using frozen water bottles to keep my temps down.

Any info. is greatly welcomed!!

3% h2o2 from walmart is the same thing,I use a tsp per gallon and have had no root problems as of yet,6 weeks into flower
 
Is the 3% h202 safe to use with General Hydroponics Flora Nova nutes.

Correct me if I am wrong, I would add 1 tsp of h.p. per gallon 2 days after I change the res. Would I add it on a daily basis, or only when I change out the res which would be once a week? Or how often would I add it to the res.
 
Looks like you're doing just fine. 1/4 strength nutes when the cotyledons die off is just right. H2o2 is good for prevention and correcting root rot. You don't have to use it all the time though. Especially if you're using some type of beneficial bacteria like voodoo juice because it will kill it. I have used h2o2 in the past to kill off root rot and it worked just fine. I used the typical drug store 3% stuff.
You can also prevent root rot by not fully submerging your net pots in the beginning. You want the roots to pop out of the bottom before raising the water level.
 
actually the res temps should be around 65f-68f now water temps above 70f is bad. I usally keep mine around 65f but water does hold more air at 60f
