Am I On The Right Track? Please Help!!!!

hey dudes, im new here, and this is going to my first grow...

im going to do it in my closet, and im going to do 4 plants. got some fire ass canadian juicy fruit, so i need to get this shit rollin. lol

AND I NEED YOUR HELP!

i need to know if the setup im planning on using will be sufficient for 4 plants, if not can you tell me what I need to add, change, or do differently

wanting to use a 200 watt CFL that puts out 12,500 lumens. planning to use the 6400k for veg

planning to use the same 200 watt CFL that puts out 12,500 lumens, but going with the 2700k model for flowering.

the walls of my closet are already white, so should i stick with that, or use mylar?

------------

so, should the one light grow 4 plants sucessfully, or should i run more?

also, i was hoping someone could tell me what a great soil to use is, i mean exactly the name of it, i have no idea which soil to go with.....

------------

thanks so much for reading this, and giving any advice or input that's gonna help. i have to use CFL's by the way.

never heard of a 200 watt cfl but i do know that 200 watts ist near enough for 4 plants. you need a minimum of 100 watts per plant. cfl's have to go by actual wattage also not their equivalent wattage. white walls will reflect light but mylar refects more light. i wouldnt worry to much about gettin "shit rollin" to fast either because growing takes patience, work and commitment. you should start by reading the "FAQ" at the top of the page. read read read (thats just the beginning) then come back with questions.

I would use 2 of those cfls. I know the ones your talking about. Use one 2700k and one 6400k you should be fine just keep them with in 3inches of the tops of the plants. As for the soil any potting soil will do not gardening soil. Just as a suddgestion look into grow hydoponicly though its alot better and faster than soil.

ok dw....so your saying i should use the 6400k and the 2700k at the same time? or use 2 6400k for the veg, and 2 2700k for the flowering?

i really want to avoid using two 6400k and two 2700k lights at the same time, but i will if i have too. kinda low on money so im tryin to do the most feesable setup possible.

no go on the hydroponic set up, that shits too expensive.

thanks guys

I suggest getting several 42W cfls rather than 1 or 2 200W cfls.. You can place them for better results and you can get more lumens per watt and dollar.. GL

alright man, sounds like a fantastic idea you got going, but however i do suggest you post some pics please. id like to see and i think you should go with mylar, mylar is alot better you can get some at walmart if you have trouble finding it like this other guys thread did. its just one of the emergency blankets just go back in the outdoor section of walmart and ask them for the blankets and they'll point you right to them :) but post pics please :-P

No offense, but almost all the reviews ive seen on MG soil is bad.. But ive never used it so I cannot say from experience..

PS: do you think its smart to say your location if you are growing weed if you live in a non medical MJ state? I just looked it up on NORML and NC doesnt have medical MJ.. Just a little advice.

Hey Floridadude. I'm in Florida too. I was actually looking at those 200w cfl's at the hydro shop today. They really are pretty amazing. I was looking because I am building a cloning set up, but my buddy uses one of them to grow. He uses it because he has to grow in a closet, like you, and the cfl makes dealing with heat much less of an issue. He grows only one or two plants at a time though. I would read a bunch more on this site before deciding soil or hydro, you can do some hydro set ups that wont be more money then soil. If you mistreat those plants they WILL die. Dont rush in too fast, like I did. You'll waste alot of time and money....but I learned alot.
