Am I getting the right stuff?

Hey guys,

I did some reading and decided I want to plant in two 5gallon pots in my 3x3x6 tent.
I have read that a 75%FFOF / 25% Perlite mix seems to be a favorite. Do you agree that's a good start?

Otherwise, I figure I need pH +/- and the tester like this:

Do you think this is a smart buy for nutrients:

and do you think I should get Azomite / earthworm castings / anything else that will improve flavor and quality of buds??

You won't need a ph down or a pen. You have your medium doing the buffering here. Ocean Farm is full of good nutrients which should last about 1-2 months. I find that ratio to be good for your perlite but I'd probably go a bit more. I find its easy to over water so take it easy and let the medium dry out prior to watering again.

Good tasting buds come from a good genetic back ground, meeting all the plants needs, and second to good genetics, a proper dry and cure.

Best of luck

Hey Thanks for the response TonightYou!

Would you care to clarify a bit?

Are you saying I will only ever need a pH + because the FFOF will and will always be slightly acidic? Why is this?
and what is a "pen"?

Also, should I stick with the General Hydroponics starter kit I linked, or would this combination of Nature's harvest fertilizer and food be better?

Azomite:

just like to add that I do have access to RO water...

What I'm saying is that in general, in a soil you don't need to worry about ph. Cannabis is pretty tolerant of most soils/mediums. Hydro is a bit different as there is no buffer, it's direct root contact... You don't need ro water.

I suggest you do some reading before you start, it will save you a lot of headaches. If you can grow vegetables or keep houseplants alive, ya shouldn't do too bad. If you fall for thinking this plant is some exception to the norm, you are bound to over complicate things and love your plants to death so to speak.

Eta, really do some reading, that's what I recommend. You will be better educated and more likely successful. I was recommended this book "Marijuana Growers Guide" by Mel Franks, and you really would understand the plant better and more likely to avoid many preventable dead plants from stupid shit.

don't over complicate yourself. I don't add any perlite to my FFOF as it has plenty perlite for my liking. However, I grow in Promix or Roots Organics now days. I would pick Roots Organics soil over FFOF any day. Get Basic Grow Nutes. You should be fine as long as you have good temps, venting, humidity etc. You should get ppm meter. PH is not necessary, but I still PH my water anyway the nutes I use don't really need any ph adjusting solution since I put in the right ratio of this and that and PH to 6.5ish

There are a million ways to grow, hell just look in the grow journals here. Many ways to get to the same result, some methods are easier than others.

Don't put the cart before the horse, do some good old fashion research and understand what you are getting in to.
