Alternative to High Priced Wireless

Hi All,

For years I gave AT&T an extra $60 a month for data plans on our iphones that we never used. That's $720 a year!!!! That covers car insurance for a year, or our homeowner's insurance, etc..

I jailbroke the phones and switched to TMobile because they don't have a contract with Apple and didn't make us pay data plans on them. We still paid $120 for 4 lines and the minutes didn't even roll over.

We don't use our phones for much more than calls, and we still get to use WiFi. I searched for an alternative and found a company called PureTalkUSA. You basically pay per minute, you can get a phone from them, or use your own and get a SIM card (what I did) and manage your minutes (which roll over) online. There is NO contract!

So for $25 a month, I have 4 phone lines, with about 500 shared minutes. I can use my iphones (with WiFi). AND I am using all the carrier's (AT&T's at the moment) cell towers!!! So I get the best reception, for a fraction of the cost, no contract, manage my minutes, and use any GSM phone.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else is tired of paying too much for cell phones they don;t use much.

that aint to bad i got cricket 62$ motnth i get unlimted everyting well the data suppose to be unlimted but after you go over 1 gb it slows down but other then that it works good

Awesome deal Clayton. I wish they had a BigHater size package. The pranks and death threats I receive by themselves would triple those minutes easily. I'm not paying overages to get cursed out. =)
I got a boost phone instead. It had a shrinkage plan that drops my bill $5 every 6 months if you pay on time. Started at $50 a month for unlimited everything, it's $40 now and about to go down to $35. That's the lowest they have for unlimited everything. Makes the prank calls more tolerable.

Yours sounds like the best deal going for people who don't use much, mine is best for flappers.

I do the boost moble thing too.... unlimited everything works for me.... and this android isn't to bad.

Yeah, fo sho, if you use data go with unlimited plans. For us older folk who only need a cell, maybe a text or two, paying for all the bells and whistles you don't use sucks. I was originally paying AT&T $2400 a year for four phone lines and had 8000 roll over minutes. Now, with this plan, no contract, and four lines costs $300 a year. Just getting it out there.
