Alright Barack Obama supporters, now what?

Well, I dare say that you need to hear from some more serious economists ... at least some that are not of the Keynesian school.

The Democrats didn't push for regulation because they were on the take from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Sen. Chris Dodd, the head of the banking committee was the largest offender along with Barney Frank ... and even Barak Obama.

The Republicans ... G. Bush and Sen. McCain tried to get congress to put regulations in place to stop the unsound mortgage backing at Freddie and Fannie, but were blocked by the Democrat majority. The housing debacle was caused by the "progressives" (socialists) in our government ... the liberal congress and senate, with their mantra that "everyone has the right to home ownership."

Okay, I'm confused by a few things I've read in this thread.

The bubble began before the Democrats had a majority, which began in Jan 07, so how is it that it's their fault?

Prices started going through the roof, in some of the states hardest hit by this mess, going back to '02. How is that the fault of a nonexistent democratic majority at that time?

Also, why is this the fault of Clinton and Carter?

Just asking.

It's Clinton and Carter's fault because it's easier for some people to pass the blame rather than accept responsibility. Like Bush, he never admitted he was wrong to go into Iraq even after they found out that all the reasons for the war were false. He even implied that it was congress's fault for authorizing the war that he pushed so hard for. I'm only using that example because it's the most obvious, but it just goes to show that it's often easier to delude yourself than admit you were wrong.

I won't say the Democrats in congress are entirely blameless, but their fault lies more with what they didn't do than what they did. Bush administration appointees that regulated the financial sector were the biggest problem. It was their job to keep on eye on this stuff.

The bubble was there before Bush, he just wasn't smart and tried to fix it. That is my issue with him. He was working to hard on a war we didn't need. Pay back for daddy as I see it.....................

Spin works in all directions, you should know that, right?

I lay fault where the numbers and data lead me. I have no party ideology or loyalty to protect.

In the case of the real estate meltdown, it lies squarely at the feet of Carter, Clinton & minions.

Just because the media and Dem's have successfully spun the blame away from them does not change the causal facts. This is the dangerous policy of consensus governing that endangers us all. By allowing blame to be shifted and rewarding the perps, we now will likely take off in an economic direction which will not be rewarding to anyone. Accept the medicine man...... (<----get it?)

out. :blsmoke:
Mayhaps you'd like to elaborate on your Blame it on Carter and Clinton theories??? I call Bullshit.

I agree. It's the government's job to nip these problems in the bud before they spiral out of control. While the problem did start under the Clinton administration, the Bush administration had a huge window to do something about it, and they did nothing. But it wasn't the Clinton administration's responsibility to set Bush up so he could just coast through his presidency.

The main objection was insisting Obama would suck before giving the guy a chance to prove himself. That's all.

They've actually proven that most people tend to forget bad things faster than they do good things. Thus, when you look back on what you can remember, the farther back you go, the fewer bad things you can remember, in relation to good things. Do you think that has anything to do with your opinions? :p

What we need is a president who will cut spending. America is bankrupt! The world has learned something through this whole crisis, and what is that...dont let america borrow money! We are all screwed! The days are gone of the rest of the world doing all the heavylifting and just handing it over to the US. The facce of america is definitely going to "change" over these next couple years. We have gone from manufacturing our way to being the largest economy in the world, to consuming our way to bankruptcy in a matter of decades. Hope all are prepared for depression II

Just one caveat from me, The best (Financially) years of my life were under Bill Clintons presidency, and no matter who you righties try and blame for this resession/depression, it happened under Ws watch. So off to the history books and wait and see who gets the blame. Hoover got the blame for the first one and you can bet your sweet ass, Bush will get the blame for this one.
