I don't buy that one friend. If the car was not stolen they have no reason to even bother with a parked car. If that were the case every tourist would be getting visits in parking lots.

Just remember to be watchful of electronic surveillance. Cops love gadgets which help make up for their rather low IQ. Smart cops become FBI agents......the rest....well...they just lift a lot of weights.

In this area there is never a parked car on the side of the road anywhere that they overlook especially out in the stix with no occupants. You can't pull over and have a sandwich or make out with your girl or just break down or anything without the police pulling over and checking you or your car out. It's standard practice. The only time they don't here is in broad daylight in a location known to be public entrances to parks or fishing areas where multiple cars can be seen parked there almost every day.

If it's anything out of the ordinary they check, always. Doesn't mean they know anything, they're just looking because they have to and because often it leads to a lucky bust for things like drunk drivers who pull off the road to take a nap etc. If you are napping in a parked car drunk you get a dui.

i think ur safe..just wear hikeing stuff when u go back..so if they do come back they will think u and ur buddy just like the area...and i think every cop would ask if u grow "special plants"..because think about it why else would two dudes walk through the woods if not hiking....just keep the things u carry to and from the spot to a min....because if u go with something and come back with nothing..ya know

You could throw a little money at the problem and get some counter surveillance by setting up a motion-capture hunting camera(s) around the area where LEO would have to park and approach your site. Let it run for a week or three and go scan all the pictures before making a decision. I'm sure that in a couple of weeks you would know with 99% certainty if LEO has taken an interest.

I'm truthfully torn about 50/50 on if I personally would return or not... But if I did, it wouldn't be without a period of conducting counter-surveillance. =P

Oh by the way, I was at a parking area today about to take a hike to a site. It looked like it was going to storm so I just sat in the car for a bit to see what the weather was going to do. Apparently there was a park service officer watching me in the parking area because as soon as got out of the car to get my backpack out of the trunk, I heard an engine start close by. Which freaked me out because I only park in the area if no one is there... so I nonchalantly went back to the driver seat and grabbed my camera. Sure enough, a park service officer pulls out of a recessed area behind some trees and pulls directly up to me just as I'm putting my camera around my neck. Thank God he didn't sit there and watch me longer because within a minute I would have been putting a couple of little plants into my backpack from the back of the car. lol

He must have thought something was up though because he stopped, got out and asked a lot of questions about what I was doing. I'm pretty sure I came under scrutiny just because there had been some car burglaries at that parking area recently. Live and learn I guess.

I'm not going back to that site until October though.
