You should up the amount of light. We are running 2 6 bulb t5 fixtures kept them at around 5 inches away from the top of the plants for the first 5 weeks then moved the lights up to 12 inches away from the plants. we thought they were not growing very well but now at 8 weeks old the are short and wide bushes with tons of potential bud sites. Switching to 12/12 next week.

40 actual watts? Is it a cfl bulb?

How much water every day?

I am gonna guess lack of sufficient light (from the stretching) and over watering.

That plant looks starving for some N. What kind of soil are you using and whats the pH? Looks like nute lockout because that's ridiculously small for 5 weeks... in fact I'm surprised its still alive. Also, don't water so much (wait to water until soil is dry... also water the whole pot, not the space around the plant), and I would've started in a smaller pot (tho that shouldn't really be an issue).

Not the issue.

He doesn't have enough light and likely overwatered. Plant can't grow without light and no air to roots.

not positive on what the pH is tho. it just started kinda drooping on the bottom 2 leaves a bit but im sure its not from watering

You watered to frequently to keep the area around the root zone wet and stunted its root system. Even a plant say that size, in a pot that size, should be watered until the entire contents of medium are covered and there is a bit of runoff from the bottom of the pot. Then you dont water until the pot feels lighter, close to what it weighed prior to being initially watered. But dont let it get to dry. The wet/dry cycle promoted on the forums is a bad practice in general. This allows the plant to take full benefit of the container. Roots are not going to go searching through dry medium in search of water. Rather they will go searching through a properly watered medium in search of both moisture and nutrients.

yea cfl sylvanian brand. and the leaves are ok lookin for what it has just looking a little more pale color. so yall prefer trying to get another light in with it and watering more around the pot and just watering once ever other day?

so yall think i should get another light in with it and give it a better watering around the pot n do it once every other day?

alright, thanks. hope this thing will be good as new after a couple days. guess it was basically the problem of not watering the complete pot. appreciate the help guys

soak the whole pot with a VERY MILD superthrive mix and then let the pot dry out for as long as it takes. probably a week. make sure you have at least 50 real watts and if theyre cfls get them 6" away from the plant as long as temps dont exceed 90f.

ok. with the superthrive mix, do i needa put a little miracle grow mix with the water or just water n superthrive. and sorry im not the smartest haha but what exactly do u mean by real watts? figured this one light would be alright with just 1 plant. n doesnt give off hardly any heat so should be alright

i would not mix other nutes yet, it will kill your little plant. just the superthrive. use less than they suggest.

for example, a 100 watt equivalent cfl is usually 23-26 real watts. just read the package.

if you dont know if this is a female for sure, and if you dont want to buy a lot more light i would start 12/12 after you get the plant happy and growing again.

NO feeding yet.
It's still so small, treat it gently, as though it's still about a week old- that's probably all the root development you have at this point.
You can put your CFL's closer than 6".
If you can put your hand between the bulb and plant, and it is not uncomfortable, the plant will be fine.
Get a fan pointed on it also.
Real watts means on the package, as Pie said, will most likely be either a 13,23, or 26w rating.
Do not tell us what the "equivalent" is. That is irrelevant.
Do NOT water every other day.
A pot that large, and a plant that small, you probably won't have to water any more frequently than once a week.
Using a ceramic pot like that makes it difficult to pick up and 'feel' the weight of wet or dry soil, so you're going to have to use the finger method, by sticking your finger in the soil down to about the second knuckle and feel if it is still wet, or not.
When you water, pour around the plant, not just AT the plant, so the wet soil is in an area, and will make your roots grow and search it out.
