Well, if you were fine before smoking the larger amounts like you said, then it just may be your body isn't used to or likes the extra smoke your exposing yourself to.
I used to smoke tobacco cigs (3-4 paks a day) before I quit, and in some real smoky clubs I would get the itchy eyes and scratchy throat.

Your body just may not like the extra amount of smoke.

Your not smoking any moldy stuff are you? I never smoked mold but I assume the body would not like it.

It is possible that herb weakened your immune system ....

Marijuana cannabinoids are considered to be immunomodulators that have the ability to either increase or decrease immune function (Klein 102). In fact, "studies suggest that cannabinoids modulate the function of T and B lymphocytes as well as NK cells and macrophages (Klein 102). Thus, cannbinoids have the immunomodulatory ability to enhance the disease process; therefore, recreational use of marijuana increases susceptibility of humans to infectious disease. For example, younger teenagers who have abuse this drug have been reported to have increased incidence of infection (Srivastava 451).

I am not going to argue with what BreatheSmoke posted. I would only smoke what works for you. I would not go out of my way to condition myself to handle larger amounts of smoke if less works...Ever think about trying a vaporizer? More hit an very very little smoke.

From a biological standpoint, I don't think it is possible to be allergic to any of the cannabinoids in weed, because they are just structurally similar imitation of our endogenous (already naturally in our body) cannabinoids, primarily anandamide. So if you were allergic to cannabinoids, I would think your immune system would have a fit with those already in your body... probably be pretty sick.
