Ello everyone again, glad to see this Vero forum is taking off!! you guys inspired me to build some lights for a friend of mine and OMG THEY ARE AWWWSOME. But I have another question!!

i want to build another light but this time I want to power 3 Vero 29 Cobs at 75w a piece using a SINGLE Driver, which driver would be suitable for that task? (i know the answer is around here somewhere but i honestly couldn't find it)

Hlg-240-2100 Will Run 3 Vero29's At 80 Watts A Piece. Buy The B Version Cause Its Dimmable :weed:

Wow, if true that's a HUGE jump in performance at 180 LPW, even 155 would be a nice improvement for nominal. I'm not clear on which products will be 155 and 180, not a lot of details.

There's also an H series in the works, high density directional lighting apparently. Go Bridgelux!
Lots of stuff being announced because of L+B in Germany. What I just realized is that there's been a lot of companies putting out WW LEDs/COBs with big increases in efficiencies and I'm wondering is this a new phosphor, better design, better AgN/Si production. I haven't really put 2 + 2 together on the reason why but I have a trade show in my area soon and I'm going ask some questions.

Rahz / what type of driver that person used to get 40% efficiency ? Do you suggest to buy cree cxb instead of vero v2s? How much CXB 3590s would be needed to cover that area efficiently? I was considering the v29 v2s only because they cost fraction of price. But if those Cxb would be better and more economical option for me, I would take it.

I mean like bigger wattage. 256w or similar. I was also seriously considering this option, I heard that there are loses to about 10% Im wondering what you guys think about this option :

Meanwell 240 series is out in some areas overseas but not in America yet as far as I know. I'm sure that you'd be safe using 3 of them for your application but I am not familiar with the specs yet.

I try to always use HLG drivers when appropriate, but Vero29 v1 was running about %40 at .7 amps. v2 which is what is currently available runs at 40% at nominal current according to the datasheet. Running over 1.4 amps may be better to use CXB 3070 or 3590 according to this single sample chart. Chart courtesy of SupraSPL. Check prices at Pacific Lighting Concepts, Cutter, and Kingbrite to compare -vs- Vero.

Hmm, was just looking over this chart and it's showing the conventional wisdom that Vero does better at high current. I swear one of the tests was showing Vero doing well at low current, Robincnn's test results maybe.

I've always been under the understanding that vero29's are better suited to be ran harder, Crees for softer drive currents.

It was this test, shows Vero 29 doing well at lower current. The CXB is more efficient obviously but the 25 watt readings aren't deviating from the 75 watt readings in a way that would suggest it's a bad idea to run Vero at lower currents.

If in June Bridgelux announces a new Vero that is more efficient than the CXB3590, all those Cree owners are going to have to form a self-help group to support each other. They will have to come to terms with not owning the most efficient COB around anymore. There will be some serious tears if Vero leapfrogs the CXB3590! :hump:

Cree will just release their CXC's and blow the new vero clean out of the water in time.

Still requiring an upgrade for everyone who wants to stay with the most efficient chips. I'm going to be running my vero 18s until they pop before replacing them. Same goes for my 29s and V22s. It will be interesting to see how current prices on older chips will be affected.

At Vero 29's current nominal power draw, and 155 LPW which is the advertised improvement (I think) we arrive at 12245 lumens (79w x 155lpw). The current CXB3590 top bin warm white is 150 LPW. The 3500K CXB 3590 DB will output around 13670 lumens running at 87 watts, or 157 LPW. Vero is looking very good price/performance wise.

There's also the fact that Bridgelux used the words 180LPW nominal and warm white all in the same sentence. Here's the bit: "its seventh generation of Vero and V Series products now featuring nominal efficacy ranging from 155 to 180 lumens per watt warm white efficacy" I don't quite know what to make of that, but it does seem to suggest one of the two products have at least one model that will feature... 180 LPW nominal warm white, or am I reading that wrong?

155-157 nominal is a nominal improvement. 180 would be pretty major IMO.
