Show me where I'm wrong. Let's see your led system grow a full term Sun Grown quality head of lettuce. Not racks of seedlings that will be moved to a sun enhanced greenhouse or micro-greens.

Well let's see if Stephen comes through?....... I'm not wasting my time/ electricity on lettuce, sorry just not happening. A quick Google search will show you a host of lettuce grown on stacked/ vertical farms . With razor thin profit margins to begin with, commercial growers wouldn't switch to leds if they were producing shit quality heads= Makes no sense to me

But the internet doesn't lie! Lol....... fair enough, ill take a look at my computer when I get home from work. Find it hard to believe no one is going full cycle with lettuce under leds...

Just saw this thread, thought I'd chime in. I have a 2x4 veg tent for clones and veggies on a shelf system with an HLG40 quantum board on each shelf. Currently have 3 heads of Tom Thumb lettuce growing. Larger one is 4 weeks in and the smaller two are 3 weeks old. Also pictured are some succulents, a couple Ghost Train Haze clones and some cactus cuttings.

It looks like you are starting to suffer the "miniaturization" effect I keep speaking of where the inner leaves keep staying the same size or even getting smaller. The plant seems as if it is being held back and prevented from the cells properly elongating.
Will be interesting to see how @Stephenj37826 get's on with his QB's. Quite a lot on the line here brother ;) :peace:

same stuff from my last post went haywire about a week ago. Sure we've been nommin' on it for a bit. Still in 16 oz cups kind of neglected/rootbound. Delicious tho. :bigjoint:

Doing some more testing, The "best" led I have seen yet in person is my custom spec China Anal Bead Panel. I have that led at 17W going against 2 2' T5's where they are realistically getting at best the light from half of each lamp (24W), so wattage should be close enough for the led beliebers.
So far the T5's are cleaning the led's clock in all categories. Plant health is so much better under the T5 that is is easily seen by everyone I have do a "blind" which looks better to you type of test.
I would love to see some university level comparisons like this with nutrient level analysis of the final product

IMO raise or dim the led.
I am working off the response I have seen in the plants with this panel. Right from first sprout there will be major stretch at a height much greater.
One thing I am learning here is that you probably don't need as many T5's crammed into a fixture for growing greens as is common in most "cannabis" lighting.
But time will tell for sure as this experiment rolls on :peace:

I stand by my previous opinion, this time with a bit of context. IMO, Monos and Cobs are somewhat like point sources (or point source grids that require quantum differential to fully understand and thus I believe they produce interference patterns that have relevant impacts on photosynthesis. The critical dimension is the distance between the point sources and I believe there is benefit in having the distance to plant be at least a couple orders of magnitude more than the distance between these quasi point sources. I see this represented in my multi cob multi temp rigs with the various color shadows that are cast. Color spectrum and led need to consider that the photoreactive cell is like an egg and light is the sperm cell, trajectory and timing are critical.
