All about the size of the rockwood

just size questions...please help mei would like to use rockwood for my DWC later,but the size is really perplexing me~~
what kind of size of rockwood shall i choose for seedling to flowering?
or i just use a small size(2cm cube) firstly,then put it into a big one later??
is change better than constant or not?
can i use a 7.5cm cube for entire of growing?smaller or bigger ?
any help is awesome

Not sure whats considered 'Proper Technique' but I used rockwool for years and it seemed unnatural at first to use them but really turns out to be as simple as it looks...its everything else that sneaks up on ya.

*ANSWER*
Seems like you already know the answer to your own question Take a smaller of the cube sizes (2" is the started as I remember) and just jab a little hole in it just like you would putting a seed in dirt. Soak the cube and your done. When she grows a few inches tall plug the starter cube into whatever desired sized larger cube the plants will end up staying in.
*Note...again im not sure what the standard instructions are for this whole process (just telling ya what worked for me for yrs) but you can put the seed into the starter cube then immediatly fit it to the final size cube and just conseder it done. Also if you ever decide to take cutting or even for use with seeds for that matter....Its recommended that you get the round 'Stater Plugs' for seeds or cuttings...I would say just stick with the 2" starters that come in the slab and are SQUARE instead of round (and cheaper when I used them). The round plugs are too loose and dont seem to snug into the hole of the larger cube. The square starters slip into the round larger cubes hole more snug and still have the edges no touching so your not smashing everything togeather. Thats about it. Hope this answered you question and im sorry if this dragged on. Simple version...
1. Take 2" Starter (Square) cube or (Round) plug and make a hole into it just like planting a seed in dirt.
2. Drop the seed facing the proper way into the hole and gently pinch top (I like crimping the top of the cube to kill all light and simulate dirt) DO NOT SMASH THE ENTIRE HOLE TOGEATHER.
3.Place in water or whatever solution or method you would normally use.
4.When seed sprouts take the 2" cube and plug it into the final size cube.
DONE.

If its not to late. I would reccomend using peat plugs.Rockwool works but plugs work better in DWC. With wool u need to pre ph water soak bla bla bla.With the plugs they come already ph'd.THey are literally a small spongue.U soak them in water ring them out and drop ur pre germinated seed directly into the top of it. Minimum lighting and they sprout usually overnight. they are about 1.5 inches long and and inch wide at the top.U place them flush with the top of the hydroton in the pot and cover the pot.
Ive explained the whole process several times i guess. Its really a very simple thing. Also I seen u asking questions about water level placement. When germinating seedling in dwc u want to place ur water level @ or a lil above the bottom of the pot. This will keep the rock in the pot moist enuff to force ur roots to grow out of the pligs and down into the water. Another problem using wool for someone just starting out is they get there wool to wet and slow the whole process right from the start.
U can use wool but ive used it all. Plugs work best for this particular style of growing.

I used Cocotek for starters. Rockwool is a favorite to a lot of people but inferior to cocotek for a few reasons. I started the germed seed in ph'ed cocotek and stuck it in a net pot filled with hydroton. The roots soon out grew the cocotek and net pot all together submerging themsevles in the water and thus DWC!
