ALGAE prevention

hello, I have had an absurd amount of algae make its home in my recent grows. The stuff just multiplies out from virtually nothingness until it clogs, dirties and destroys.

Yes I do use 35% h2o2 at also, absurd amounts.

water temperature stays 60-73.

Reservoir does not receive ANY light except for mebe when I adjust ph....

How does the stuff still live on? What is the best product I can buy that will completely eliminate this algae. I use GH florashield at the moment.

p.s. how does hygrozyme affect algae growth?

Sorry, both about your algae problem, and because I must be missing something. This algae is in your res, which doesn't have any light shining on it, and it contains both FloraShield and H2O2?

I don't get it.

Where exactly is the algae growing? It needs light, it's a plant.

duct tape your container or get some thick black plastic to tape around your container. Light MUST be getting through some how.

hmm yeah i think your right roast. Interesting that I ordered this system from GH and have had little problem with light penetration 1st and 2nd grows. Maybe the paint is fading on the res and its time to cover it with mylar?

Also it seems like I am able to kill all of the algae as soon as I recognize it. It still however floats around in the res and can never flush it all out....grrr.

R there any other products I can puchase to reduce or prevent the green goblin?

If your not using any organics and are straight chemical (nutrient salts) you could try dutch master zone. I had a slight problem with some sort of white slime, it was barely noticeable but I could feel it on everything in the res and the walls of the res. I had some DM Zone I use for cloning and added 1ml/gal and it cleared it right up.

hmm ok ill keep that in mind next time i go to the store. It sounds like we had the same slime issue. Im actually not certain i have algae, just some sort of blob like sludge that appears to be alive. :)

Yeah, algae is a green plant that grows on wet surfaces. A lot of people call it moss, it's slimey feeling, but I don't think that's what you have. If it's just gunk in your res, then change it more often. I can't imagine that it's something that is growing with H2O2 and FloraShield in there. It must be some particulate of your nute soup.
