Alcoholism, Can MJ medicine break the cycle.

I have had a alcohol problem for many year, I have just in the past few month decided to face it head on. I have been doing the AA meeting and so on with little relief, the biggest help has been MJ. Alcohol was something I would turn to if I was anxious or stressed out, even lonely. It was very addictive once started, I used it every chance I had. That being said, now when I feel the need to drink I put it off with activities or fancy tea's, that sort of distraction BUT if im reaching the breaking point and I do I reach out to MJ.

The point of fail come when my body is overwhelmed with the desire to be in a mind altered state and MJ resolves that for me buy relaxing my nerves and allowing me to take my mind off the desire.

Now im sure lots of people would argue that this is just replacing one evil with another, but that entirely untrue.
I have no desire to use MJ unless its for this medical use. I don't necessarly like the affect but the results are undeniable. The addictive quality of alcohol is amazing, I smoked cigerettes for 13 years (quit about 4 years ago) and cigerette have a fraction of the power over alcohol. MJ I have no desire to use unless I mentally and physically come to the place where I know its time to medicate or it's back to the bottle.

Day 66 for me, I have medicated myself 6 times and have had zero alcohol.

This is something that should be looked at closely by the medical society, it's a life changer for me.

I plan on keeping this thead open as a journal for others to see my results and I invite anyone else to try this meathod and share there story.

Have a Great day!!

Cannabis stopped my drinking problem. Once i started smoking the alcohol slowly became just a thought n the back of my head. I hated waking up always n pain and feeling like shit. Weed compleatly flipped alcohol on its ass for me and i havnt gone back since. Its possable and it works. Good luck man. Just think of how good it feels to wake up refreshed and good to go lol

I have been sober for twenty years and never stopped smoking pot. I did it white knuckle Style and couldn't have done it without pot. I think sometimes I should have quit smoking too but part of the way
I stayed sober was to roof steep house about 60 hours a week and I crippled my self up doing too much, so funny. So I knew about how pot help with pain so I didn't have get addicted to pain killer like my friends. Hang in there and do what it takes to stay sober.

Good for you! I don't know you ..... but I'm proud of you!!

You mentioned that you don't like the effect. Have you ever tried cooking with marijuana? Cannabutter is pretty easy to make, and I find that it is a completely different "high" than just smoking weed. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the way your body metabolizes the canabinoids. My wife makes honey chocolate with the marijuana laced butter. It tastes very good, and it only takes about 5 minutes for the effects to kick in.

If you're interested let me know, and I'll post some recipes/info on how to get started. Another plus is that you can use primarily your trimmings, and save the nice bud for smoking. I'll check back in to see how you're doing. Best of luck to you!

haha! Honey chocolate is just a recipe that she uses cannabis-butter in. You can practically substitute cannabis-butter for normal butter in any recipe. I will grab the recipe for cannabis-butter tonight when I get home and post it for you when I get a chance. The recipe makes about 4 cups of cannabutter, but you'll need to mess around with how much trimmings/bud you chooses to infuse the butter with. I would start with 1 ounce and go from there. I think you might like this!

Ok, so here is the update

72 days in still standing strong, have the craving less and less now it seem to grab that bottle and knock the lid of :) yummy..... lol
sorry....

Have not smoked any weed this week but found myself very apart of the culture. The simple thought of weed being there as an out seems to be enough to keep my erges at bay. I have zero desire to abuse marijuana in anyway, (wish i could say that about booze) which tells me that the addictiveness of it is like I said no where near that of alcohol. I have found great pleasure in being involved with the compasion side of marijuana, I have just found out that I will be helping a new patient that is terminally ill, young person with a young family and only a year prognosis. Cancer and with the marijuana this person is comfortable and able to eat, he/she isn't currently able to afford the pot on the street and have turn to the medical community to supply the medicine and that's were I come in. Feels really great to be given the opportunity to give back. Giving is receiving!

Have a great week everyone!!

your story, along with others in this thread, is nothing less than inspiring..
having enough courage to admit you have a problem, dealing with that problem directly, and changing your life around for the positive is a huge encouragement, not only for yourself, but people reading this at home. Today is day 82, tomorrow day 83 and so on.. stick with it buddy!! i think i speak for the Roll It Up community when saying we have your back and we all hope for the best, keep posting and updating to show everyone that you CAN beat any addiction with will power and positive encouragement.

i truly hope you stick with the sober life (away from alcohol) and continue the use of cannabis - medically or recreationally*:bigjoint:

it took a bad fall that landed me in the hospital for me not to drink again. then again i wasnt an alcoholic. i much rather hang with pot smokers than drunk ppl, after a few drinks u cant even communicate on a reasonable level with them. im very bias towards alcohol, kinda like the old school grandpa against smoking weed. i tells ppl if ur gonna hit ur woman ur gonna do it drunk
