Air pump heating res up

I started messing with my air pump today (switching airstones). well for some reason I pulled the 6 splitter manifold off of my AP-20 pond pump and felt warm air!
My res Temps have been around 80. I keep 10-12 gallons in the tote. My 1/4 hp active aqua chiller will be here today by 8 pm so I'll see how that works when I get it in. I'll be using a cold water res since I'll have three diff mixes of nutrients in three different totes.
As for the air pump I'll probably take it apart and see what the inside looks like and drill holes if I can for ventilation. My 4 inch air conditioning line is routed right next to it so I should be able to cool the pump off somehow.
Has anyone already dealt with this problem and have a solution?
Thanks!

Airpump 's create heat via the friction/compression process. That is completely normal. Now how much is heats up the rez might not be anything at all honestly. Water pumps add more heat then a airpump. What size chiller did you go with ?

I ended up getting a 1/4 hp chiller. It says it uses 1/2 in tubing so I went to home Depot the other day and found some clear tubing with a 1/2 in I'd and bough like 30 feet. I bought thinner hose insulation for it but I figure I'll be able to come off of my cold water supply with the flex tubing and put it through the water in each res. I was going to go with pvc but, ehhh.
Just waiting on my package, hurry up ups grr

I use hiesnberg tea and turned off my chiller a few years ago. Res temps in the high 70s plants look wonderful

This thing is great! It's only been running for 20 minutes and my 12 gal res has cooled down over 10 degrees! I'm impressed. Don't mind the clear hose in about to insulate and seal it from light
It was super easy to hook up just some tubing a pump and some hose Clamps.
