Air gap between bottom of netpot and waterline?

Hi,

I have read a lot of different opinions regards having the water of your RDWC up to the bottom of the net pot or keeping it a couple inches below.

Can somebody please clarify for me, do i keep it 2 inches below or to bottom of the netpot?

Regards,

M

I come up to the bottom but I'm sure you'll get varied responses on this board.

pretty much fill it up to the net pot, because in a couple days as the plants drink water, the level will drop, so there will be a few inches air gap. A couple inches is good, where the bubbles popping keep the bottom of the net pot wet, but too much air gap for too long will make the roots rope up.

You will get faster root development if you leave your buckets half empty. Leaving the root mass above water with the tap roots in water will promote root growth as the plant strides to access the water supply.

Also the more roots exposed to air getting water droplets on them the better. More Oxygen means faster feeding and eventually an affect on yield.

Fill a plant A with 4 gal of water on day 1 and leave it until empty.

Fill plant B with 2 gal on day 1 and 2 gal once water level is low.

Bet ya find the lower water level leads to faster uptake, especially pre flower

I fill my dwc buckets up past the net pot bottom. If you have good air bubbles I see no reason to not put more water in leaving no real airspace. Roots are going to be in water 24 hours a day anyway.

Interesting there are many ways to do this. I am afraid my roots closest to the net pot bottom will dry out if I leave an airspace.

They won't dry out but they will turn brown. I've always seen this as a sign of unhealthy roots. I hence raised my levels from 1" below to flush with the base of my net pot. Note, I set a rooted clone right on the bottom of the net pot .

Who da fuk taught you this crap? And have you successfully removed their cock from your anus yet?
hang on a minute ...i seem to remember i like you and your replys and info i get from you.......WTF !!!

Your adorable. where do I get me one of you for xmas? I know just the gift recipient.

Seriously, you spouted something you "read somewhere", with no citation or real world experience to claim to back it up with. Furthermore, it was utter nonsense. Hence, you sir, are the forgiven on as I see it. :-P
