air flow question, temperature issue.

Hey fellow farmers

I would like to ask for advice on a air flow idea.

I have a 6inch closed loop 2*600watt cooling system. I currentily use air from my kitchen to cool the lights and exhaust it back into the kitchen.

I've recentily discovered a 4" external access pipe.

Would it be better to cool the lights using this pipe as an intake for cool external air and exhaust into my kitchen. thereby using the big temp difference to remove heat from the lights.
or would it be better to cool the lights with mykitchen air, and exhuast the hot air into this pipe. thereby remove the heat from the entire operation completely.

I'm thinking option 1 would be cooler for my room?

Thank you for your help.

i would be careful about blowing your hot air out of this pipe, whats the pipe for? (dryer) option 1 is the safest but watch out for any sucking noise from the outside

Hi ROBSTERB, The 4" pipe is a pipe installed for the extractor over my oven. It vents smoke/steamy air outside when i turn the oven vented hood on. Which i never do. Its VERY loud fan even on low setting.

Why would you be careful? Would you imagine issues blowing out? I think option one might even give me a better temperature reduction so im leaning towards that. Thanks for your response.

if you are blowing hot air out of a pipe to the outside, if its unatural and not a dryer/oven pipe the the police helicopter/flir cam will pick up on it, however since its a cooker extraction pipe then i would be less worried about blowing the hot air threw it,(thats what its there for) i would still pick the first option and suck the cold air in, and vent into the house, because its more stealthy option 1 should give you a few degrees cooler in your room, imo.

Thanks ROBSTERB. I was just reading about the thermal police methods. I think i could get away with it as its very venting out the side of a apartment building so would look like a dryer vent. but since there is no benefit of this. Why bother even risking it! I think ill go with the intake option 1. Thanks.

now....to completely tear down all my ducting and reverse it,........damn.

lol like you say you would probably be ok venting out because thats what its for, but if it was me and you had no issues venting into your kitchen then i wouldn't take the chance even if its a very small one! i really think option 1 will bring your temps down more than 2 because your bringing cold air in to the light( closed circuit light) option 2 your just venting to a different place!

hmmm.. i thought of another new idea. What about using the 4" pipe for an intake into the room?
Would this have a greater cooling effect on the room than cooling the lights with it?

Im trying to maxiumise the effect and would dream of installing a 1k light.

So light cooling or ambient air cooling?

Suggestions?

hi you could try both ways with minimal effort, try conecting it to the light first for aday to see what temps are like, then just unclip from light and check the next day, if your extracting the room through the light then i would think by bringing fresh air into the room would be a good idea! i do it this way with a 600 and temps are good

Do you think the cops have plans to your house to know which pipes are which? In the USA Flir is not reason to obtain a warrant anyways. You all must be in the UK. And if the vent exhausts at roof level using it as a fresh air intake would be kinda foolish in the summer. The air on a roof gets pretty fucking hot. Sounds Tinker like you need to move more air through the grow area, not the lights..

i vent into the loft (taking air out of me grow room) using an aircool unit 6" fan, and i take cold air from outside into the room using a 4" fan and ducting.
