AIR CONTROL-EXHAUST-INTAKE OR WHAT?

Hi All: Here is a problem I would appreciate some help on. Maybe one of you have encountered something similar or if I’m real lucky a heating/cooling expert might respond. Here is my problem.
I have a tent grow consisting of two tents a bloom tent and a vegetation/everything else tent. The two tents are coupled together.
The vegetation tent gets it’s air from the bloom tent and exhausts to the bloom tent through flex conduit one 4” input ( I plan to change the input from 4” to 6” ). and a 6” 240cfm duct motor back to the bloom tent. The air in the vegetation room is exhausted through a small drying tent within the vegetation tent back to the bloom tent through the 6” duct motor which I regulate with a variable motor control. Wow hope you can visualize this.
I did this so I have a place to dry my product and also be able to exhaust through the bloom rooms scrubber. OK here comes the problem.

Bloom room tent size is 4.3’x11.2’x7’ = 337cuft, it’s recommended to change air every 5 min in a room, 337/5= 67.4cfm for bloom room.
Vegetation tent size is 2’x9’x7’ = 126cuf/5 =25.2cfm vegetation room.
Total vegetation & bloom tents = 67.4 + 25.2 = 92.6cfm x 5min = 463cuftm of air that should be exhausted from the tents per minute.

I use a 6” 500cfm exhaust motor run through my 2 600w lights to a scrubber filter for exhaust for both tents.

I also have two 6” feeds to the bloom tent from my house heating & cooling system that I have no idea what volume of air I’m getting out of these but it’s my air condition and heat the inputs are also damper regulated. With no return to the house I don’t know what I’m getting here.

I also have a 6” 170cfm duct fan connected through the floor to a filter box outside for cool air for the 3 air pumps I use. Damper regulated and variable motor control.

During the winter “I’m in Michigan” I will be installing a 8000btu air conditioner to the bloom tent and a chiller to my rdwc and eventually CO2 and of course I don’t want to be exhausting my air conditioner or CO2 to the outside. What is the beat way to handle this type of system for maximum efficiency. I’m just kind of at a loss at this point.

When all tents are zipped up I get sucked in walls on the vegetation tent and over expanded walls on the Bloom tent. I don’t think this should be. It’s been suggested to exhaust and intake from outside the lights by them self’s on their own closed system and use scrubber only for exhaust of room. Anybody else doing this? Anyway all suggestion are surely appreciated

damn son u made a monster ..............and nice patchwork u have redneck skills (meaning this in a good way)

i been working on something like this now for 2 years with several tents linking ducting and finding the best method of venting

so far the best one that has balanced out 2 tents was this lay out doing it backwards
ejection point.....ducting ....fan.......Wye duct hooked to the fan the shortest path has a dampener ........ducting to the tents ....cool tube or tubes

then u need a powered intake on both a 4 inch can fan will do 100cfms i use 6 inch 240cfms hooked to a filter intake i made with a lvl 10 filter and post office flat rate box this was drawling off the main room using the central air system(no tie ins to tents just vented in room) and a 5000btu window shaker ...and the area is partly under ground finished basement

that was using a 1000w hps in a 4x4 tent with a second 4x4 tent having 2 600w cool tubes ...........my temp variable was only 11 degrees on a 400cfm exhaust

as for your math i am a lover in the over kill factor .........so every 5 min is the bare minimal u should change for at least everything 3 mins u will have a much easier time controlling the heat plus happier plants .............rem Co2 is a heaver gas so it will settle and build up to the ejection point the air u are adding in is mainly cooling and to stir everything up in there so nothing gets stale or stagnate

with the filter box idea it lets u direct the air in the tent little so if u get a old paint can that is clean and heavy u can take a piece of pine furring strip on the side and make a stand for a clip on fan that moves around and then make the ducting go to the back of the fan or under it so cool breeze (just rem to anchor the pole to tent pole so it can not fall over if u hit the box)........but u can move the fan up and down it allows u to get the light little closer for depth but keep from heat stressing them

the rest of it is just dump your ac into the room and the 8000 btu once that intake air is lowerd it will control your temps
just keep something near the intake on the outside of the tent to get a intake reading and one near the scrubber or open vent point for ejection ..........u find the temp u like to keep the room at ( u know not running all the time mine was 68f ) and then u can increase the speed or decrease for the intake/exhaust adjusting the temp inside ........just keep below 80 f thc degrades at a faster rate at that temp

Interesting set-up. I see your math on air exchange for your tent. I was wondering with not knowing what air is coming into your tent and the pressures in the tents not being close to balanced, how do you know what the real exchange rate is. The cfm's on the fans are max numbers and if you're veg tent is in negative pressure, there's not enough available air for it to push it's full cfm. And also if your bloom room where you're fresh air is entering through your house systems duct has to much pressure then you're fresh air has to work harder to enter. I have a feeling if you balance the pressure between the 2 tents the temps and air flow will be easier to control.

thanks for responding jimmer6577 I have through my trials on this put a fan speed controller on the exhaust fan from veg tent to bloom tent and have changed the input duct to 6" to the veg tent from the bloom tent and when I adjust with the tents zipped up I can balance between the two tents until the house system turns on. I am taking justugh recommendation "1st post ans" and shut off house to tent connection and put it in the room of the tents the house heat and cooling intake from room into bloom tent and using Wye duct connector with damper and a window shaker 8000 BTU air conditioner. Thanks again for responding

the dampener is going to be the key .................if it is like this one

it goes right in the wye duct ..............here is the trick i learned if u need too u can remove it and then drill some holes in the dampener so when it is closed it lets more air tho .........just matter of tweaking to balance it out (the filter box lowers the CFM for the intake i am guessing 40 cfms do to sucking tho the filter and the 90 degree bend up to the fan inside)


worst cast for u sir u might need to get a 8 inch inline fan for the higher cfms out this will keep your negative pressure even with the carbon filter on ( my state the laws just changed smell of weed is decriminalized so smell is not a huge thing to me so i will run a strait ejection )

Tents connected, multiple fans, connected to home ductwork, portable ac's in winter,chiller, CO2

If you try and make all that work, your probably hurting more than helping.

I'd take a step back and re-evaluate your goals, then try to find the simplest way to make them happen.
