Air conditioner in 4x4 tent?

so i currently have a 4x4 tent inside of my 5x5 closet. Inside the tent i have 2 150W hps i have a 4" outtake fan attached to my carbon filter and a 6" intake fan (intake less powerful) i also had a fan moving air around inside. However the temperatures remain at 90 degrees when lights on and 86 when lights off. My closet has a folding door type so theres decent sized gaps bout an inch on top bottom and side and side. and i have vents ducted so it aims to blow out the sides and take in on from the sides i also leave the door open in daytime. the closet has no ventalation leading to it aside from the door gaps.

So now im thinking i have to buy an airconditioner ive seen some for about $100 at home depot and was wondering if this was my best bet and if there would be any negative effects to doing this? i would put air conditioner inside tent as outside of tent there isnt much room left on sides. Any thoughts or comments would heklp a ton im short on cash so this is why im hating to have to go do this and i want a second opinion. thanks.

An air conditioner would be a waste of money and electricity for that small space. Get a more powerful exhaust fan.

yea i got one of those htg fans in a 6in they work great. my first grow was a closet got a lil smaller than yours and i had a 400wt hps in it with one them 6in inline fans and it worked great. i recomend buying the fan controller 20$ and you can fine tune the temp by controllling the fan. good luck

if you have too much airflow you can end up sucking the cooler air out too fast for it to have an effect... i have my 6" @20%, and no intake fan anymore, and its cooler than ever... im using a 600w air cooled hood...

For a grow this size I am not sure if I would want an ac in the tent. I also have a 4X4 tent and ran into some of the same trouble you are having. I was lucky to have an ac/heat vent in the closet and was able to put a thermostat in the closet. That unit just ran the upstairs room and closet that was only used for storage and the grow. I still had heat issues so I ran the exhaust through a hole in the wall to the attic that worked great. If the temp in the closet is not hot I would look into finding a place for the air to go outside of the closet. With good air circulation in the tent and the heat leaving the room I would think you would be good without an ac. In any case I would still vent the hot air out of the closet anyways. That’s the best I can think of for you. Hope it helps.

Im thinking of either ripping down the tent and not using it anymore and just growing out of the closet ( prob what i should have done first off) or adding a clip on fan to blow down on plants cannopy ( my ground fans blow over my week plants because there so close.)

Has any1 used a clip on fan in a grow tent ive seen lots of pictures with them in them do they make a big difference?

Thanks for getting back @ me. If you do decide to get the A/C unit, won't its deposit of water outside the building smell, thus giving away what you're growing?

luckily i didnt make the rash decision of getting an ac unit. i simply put my intake and outtake fans so that they are outside the closet door and vented into the tent ( intake fan is outside door and outtake fan's venting leads tyo outside door. ) My tents temperature is about 86 with the lights on which is pretty good considering my apartment is 82 degrees. ( i dont like running ac i keep my sliding glass door open) thansk everyone
