Afghan Selection Seeds

Has any one got any information on this company? Are they a European breeder who's been on a trip or are they actually breeding/shipping these out of the region?

Very good looking selection of old school afghan varieties, not cheap but to most of us these types are long lost

They are currently selling varieties from these regions in 12 packs:
- Balkh
- Chimtal
- Hindu Kush
- Kholm
- Mazar-I-Sharif
- Sheberghan

I'm interested in the Chimtal, Hindu Kush and Mazar varieties.

I just picked up a pack to have a landrace variety in my stash box. From what I've heard is that they went on a trip to Afghanistan and brought these beans back. So they are straight from Afghanistan! That's the only reason why I picked up a pack to have something nobody has, but don't quote me on it that's just what I heard and read.

So what strain did you guys have your eyes on? I got Sholgar. It said to have gassy, motor oil flavor which I like with a strong high. I'm a OG fan but hope I find something Special.

balkh from Afghan Selection is a nice one so far very skunky and rubber / rotting fruit smells. tight Internodes , but did take a little longer than usual to show sex. anyone else running anything from them ? or have any feedback on any of the other strains.

Haven't opened try pack yet still doing other stuff at the moment! We're you gonna make any F2's with that Sholgar I'd love to try some if you do! @calyxhunter
I’m working on trying to make some F2s soon. I started 5 of the 12 back in may and lost all but one and she finally showed sex outdoor. already made backups of her. i do have a nice Maple leaf Indica male that I am using to make f2s of the MLI and want to see what traits I get since it’s supposedly old Afghan / Ortega , have a few more females I’m throwing the MLI male on seeding full term trees to get a big population

A few pics of how the Balkh finished this season, im glad i kept cuts of her she came out smelling like a burnt tire / skunky with gass undertones. smokes very good for being a hash plant cultivar. very good pain killing qualities , a good effect i found with this strain is when i smoke it at night , i wake up the next day feeling great like fully rested. i hit a cut with a Maple leaf indica male to see what happens will be runing those when i get a tent set up.

Wow looks really awesome! I bet you'll get some F1 vigor in the outcrosses. Although they don't seem to be lacking that at all that's for sure. Looks super clean

I was always interested to see how many people would pick up this guys gear.
i have had collection sitting for a while now going to get some projects going with them, seed increases, F1, and F2's preservation etc
I will have to dig on my hard drive and find all the detailed information he put out about the cultivars early on and then it disappeared . It was fairly detailed with LAT and Longitude of the collection site, smells, morphology. ill post it when i find it

Also from my understanding these would not be considered wild or feral genetics. Most of the collections were received from local farmers that grew that variety for decades. They were collected in huge fields but only certain cultivars were selected to represent the variety. So don't know really but i would assume that the seeds were collected from the best of every harvest of they were selected and backcrossed or inbred to lock in traits.
most of these strains are exclusively used for hash production. They don't smoke the raw flower.
From his descriptions these strains have exotic terps melons, chocolates, spices, herbs and incense. Plus they have all the colors in senescence reds, blues, silvers, black, purples, oranges, pinks.
The only thing that ive learned about populations like this that are grown outdoors from heirloom stock, The have a tendency to have herm issues because of the plants hardcoded will to survive by any means necessary. so it will take a couple generations to breed that out
i know i'll put pictures up when i start to run through mine and interested to see what other get out of them.

and the seeds you get in these packs have to be the biggest seeds i've ever seen they are monsters
