With the mainline, you want to grow out 5-6 sets of nodes before cutting first, and the first chop is a big one, a lot of material comes off at that point (you remember my journal). Then you train out your two, same build-up process. I believe I read the GSC likes to be topped which would be favourable, but I`d check the out firsthand :eyesmoke:

Read up quite a bit more on mainlining, topping, lsting, supercropping, and fimming. So right now all of those little weedy lower branches that were on the GSC are getting stronger from this early on LST. They are growing horizontally, I am really going to try and make the whole canopy really even. I finally fully understand fimming and topping, I had the two mixed for a while. SO, I fimmed a lower node, probably halfway down the plant, but its in the middle because of the way I have the plant LST'd (I have it laying over with the top bending toward the pot, I am in the works of making an S ) I didnt really see two little new bud grow ball things growing in under the one I fimmed like the ones on the top. So I am guessing they are going to grow out after I have fimmed the new growth part...? On friday or saturday I will FIM all "three" tops, I say three in quotes because one isn't really a main top, its lower than where the main stem splits into a Y

If the auto doesnt grow out in like a week or so I will just clone the GSC and replace it. I will mainline that clone. I will let it get 6 nodes and cut above the third, lst them to grow horizontally, then repeat this over and over until satisfied...? I will be doing a scrog as said previously so I am really looking for big nugs, not that popcorn shit ;D

SO, today I go in my tent and I saw something flying around, gnats. Of course... I am assuming these gnats actually came from the dispensary and I didn't notice right away, some are already flying but only a few, I figure I have a small sized infestation ATM. I am on my way to the store as I post this to pick up my army (lady bugs) and right now I left a hotshot bug bomb in there with the tent open. I also plan to water with hydrogen peroxide for the next few waterings. Should be an easy kill.

Okay after alot of research, I have came up with the perfect no pest system.
First line of defense is nematodes in the soil, these little guys will destroy any soil aphid or harmful bug trying to get at my roots
Second is lady bugs, inside the tent, they will shit on any aphids above the soil
Third is Lacewings, placed in the room outside of the tent. They will kill any harmful bugs or aphids crawling along the walls just plotting their way into your garden. These guys will kill up to 600 aphids just in the larvae stage!
Fourth is praying mantis, a bunch of sacks of eggs, like four, placed around the four corners of the walls outside of my house. This kills aphids and any harmful bugs anywhere near your grow, stops them before they get there ya know.

SAND, this is 95% effective against gnats, their big thing is their larvae, which are in the soil, if you put a layer of sand on your soil about half an inch to an inch thick the larvae cant leave the soil, and the gnats cant get in to lay more eggs or whatever it is they do. This is where you take action, set up your bug army of nematodes in the soil now, and get everything else going, also just water regularly with hydrogen peroxide, 1 part h2o2 to 4 parts h2o. The hydrogen peroxide will kill the remaining larvae in the soil, as for the adults flying around, just throw up a sticky strip and they will be gone within a week.

Lol, behold, after smoking literally all night the wrong bud, been smoking sativa trying to pass out  So I have been reading every grow journal I can find on earth of GSC and so far I have learned 3 things. One is that GSC grows really straight and has only a few main branches, so it would be preferable to top, it responds well to topping and fimming but doesn't really like to be LST'd, I have noticed areas of the stems turn purple where I am hanging the wire hangers on them, kinda weird. I think I am going to just move the boss hogg and akr outside for now until they pick up on growth. Will be bringing them in the house during the nights of course. I am going to supercrop on monday and then top the supercropped branches when they recover.

Yo KC,
Right when I was about to stop believing the two little guys finally started growing out yesterday! Since then the boss hogg has made 2 nodes, its at a rate of 1.5 nodes a day, the akr has thrown up 2 new nodes as well, it never flipped over to auto flower so maybe it needs to be changed to 12/12? Idk, Ill definitely try to clone it when its big enough, also I am having some small problems with those blotches I was talking about on the leaves of the GSC, they have spread and gotten worse, please help me out man :P Its on my other journal with pics and shit.

So a small update, the leaves on the boss hogg are turning darker green slowly, they are banana yellow right now but the veins are dark green, I expect them to start takin off in these next couple weeks, I guess that autos really do flower based on size, proof here, its been 30 days and my auto is still in veg. Or perhaps I have a light sensitive pheno or something like that :weed:

Okay, I know its been a minute, some of yall might of thought this was a dead thread. No sir! The afghan kush exploded in growth and has about 8 nodes now, its around 8 inches tall. It is definitely flowering, as soon as you walk in you can smell the dank from the AKR :leaf: smells really similar to the afghan kush , almost exactly the same but kind of a piney scent as well. The boss hogg has came back and then some, its looking very bushy and dark green, a good number of nodes on that bitch already as well, she is a bit smaller than the auto but with alot more nodes. The akr seemed to have topped itself on the main stem and created two smaller ones branching out from that, could have been from the heat damage when it was so young that one day. The akr should be ready for harvest on june 8th, I will probably vape a bud off it to see how it is.

EDIT: I dont really know if the boss hogg is a girl or not and I want to throw in my damn scrog net pretty soon so I am going to clone it then flower that clone & after that I will throw up that net, if its a male I will probably just take a clone from the girl scout and breed them, if not then ill get some bud :weed:

The boss hogg is growing textbook perfect, the node structure is amazing, really hope its a girl. I supercropped the girl scout like 5 times to change up the canopy and topped it around 10 times as well. I topped the boss hogg which is about a foot tall and I am LSTing the afghan kush ryder. The boss hogg already has some 7 blade leaves, same with the girl scout. The GSC would be around 2.5-3 ft tall if I didnt bend it over, the bottom is super bushy so I topped half the bottom and topped half the top.

Been calculating expenses for the next grow, which will end up being perpetual. After this harvest I am going to get two more tents, one for mothers and clones with just t5's and cfls. One for veg and one for flower. My friend is going to be holding onto my mothers in his tent so I don't need to worry about that, however I am trying to think how much I would spend on a veg setup.
Probably about 100$ for a 250W MH light, and 120 for a 4x4x6 tent(from the website KC was telling me about, awesome place man thanks for that!) Im going to say another good 100(maybe a bit less) on fans, pots, ducting, and dirt. So around 300 for another setup, roughly. I'm all about saving money so I am thinking I sell my non air cooled 400W. Could easily get around 100-150 on that. & after a sold ounce of that girl scout I would have more than enough to buy the equipment, See you on the other side!
