Aeroponics System Cleaning?

Ok so I am planning on changing the res water every 2 weeks in my 16 site aeroponics unit.

When I wipe the res out what would be safe to use? bleach and then rinse with water?

And what should I run through the aero unit to clean everything while plants are still in?
When do you use H202 solution?

Hi there mate,i have 32 site aero system.I would hold back on changing the res every two weeks and just change when its time to flower. I have been doing this for years.I simply add fresh water and nutes when they are needed,as long as you check your ph once a while and check your ppm you will be fine.If you wanted to clean the res out use one cap full of bleach to one bucket of water and mix it in properly,then get a cloth and keep wiping the inside of the res.Then rinse thoroughly with clean fresh water.You can run the bleach and water solution through the system as well,but make sure you flush it through with clean water afterwards. Use 15 to 20 ml H202 EVERY DAY. Some use a higher dosage every 4 to 5 days, but the everyday dosage tends to keep your oxygen
levels on a more consistent basis.

From what I understand the oxidation of organic material results in the extra oxygen molecule to bind to the carbon and essentially destroy the organic stuff on a chemical level. If there is any degradation of H2O2 to H20 it will be most likely negligable. A decent air pump and stone is a much more effective method of achieving this goal and in the long run it will be cheaper. Obviously if it works for you I wouldn't worry about it but since hydrogen peroxide oxidizes any organic material, whether living or dead, it will eat your roots too.

To the OP, you can essentially use hydrogen peroxide or an enzyme product like Hygrozyme to clean your system with your plants in it. I use H2O2 because it's cheaper and effective although if you have problems with root zone in general enzymes, I believe, are more specifically targeted at the decaying plant matter within your systems that rots and fungi take hold from. I usually add between 1ml for freshly rooted clones to 4 ml a gallon in flower of 29% H2O2 with every res change but you could translate that to once every week to two weeks. I also use it to sterilize all my equiptment and can be diluted to a lesser strength and run through your system. It will burn your hands if you aren't careful and gloves are a good idea. That's just my disclaimer. I don't because I have to wear latex gloves at work all day and they suck. It will also stain clothing in high concentration but I suppose if you bought gloves you could just wipe everything down with the full strength stuff and then run a solution through your sprayers. Simply running a pretty concentrated soltion though the system for a day or so. I just don't like bleach and I really don't like it near my plants.

So would you recommend just pumping the res full of air with stones and leaving the H202 out altogether? Or would you say use em both everyday?

If I do go with H202 I should use it once every week and if I see root rot or any other root problems I should use Hygrozyme?

And what happens to the H202 in the water? Does it just evaporate or the plant takes it in or what?

Do aeroponics guys usually switch their res out every 2 weeks or not that often?
