because im in a apartment I was told I should only use CFL lighting. So it wouldnt look noticeable on electrtic bills. And Wouldnt Start Fires. But I want to maximize my yield and dont wanna half ass anything.

I wanna use this setup I saw on a thread I read Grow 2 pounds in 80 days. He was using a rubbermaid tubberware 55-60 gallon system. He got 32 4'' pots drilled into the top. I wanna connect two together so that would be a total of 64 plants. I also wanna have another one for clones. How would I go about this?

What type of lighting would I need for the cloning/veg/flower

Ive seen lots of videos but in the videos they talk about things like your suppose to what they mean like ppm's for example.

Any Help would Be Appreciated!!

this is what i found for you. It means Parts Per Million. It is generally used to measure and denote the concentration of chemical in very low quantity. e.g we say the sea water contains 0.5 ppm of pure gold. Or human blood contains 20 ppm of iron oxide.
This unit is used when other units like % and fractions are too big to denote the quantity.
Percent is one part in hundred. So you can now understand what is a part per million. see if it helps

I used this tutorial and followed it as closely as I could, material withstanding. I was satisfied with the results. But you can achieve alot more and truely unlock your plants genetics and add on alot more weight with HID lighting. CFLs are great for veg and are "decent" for flowering. Only tricky part is keeping the lighting withing 1 - 2 inches away from the folliage. The more CFL coverage you have the better off your plants will be. I am sure if you were to get a small HID like say a 150w HPS for flowering 12/12, it wouldn't grab the attention of anyone. I hope this helped.

Peace and positive energy to you

I understand you don't want to do it half ass, but you don't want to start balls to the walls. You were told right about using CFL's for being less noticeable. They produce a lot less heat, but have to be closer to the plant to be effective. You wouldn't want to do an extreme amount of plants, because CFL's lose efficiency over distance and power. The most efficient range of CFL bulbs are are like in the 40-80w area, anything more and you might as well go with HPS. You are trying to cut down on the Wattage used anyways, so "don't go big, it's your home". If your total watts reach over 9000, just f' it and go with HPS. I had a neighbor with 23(actually26) plants and Fluorescent lighting get caught. He had enough tube lights to equal a pair of HPS lights, wtf right!?

The local hardware store should have some huge (68w) CFL bulbs for $15 bucks. They will only have the 2700K(for flowering). These are to be whipped out for your flower box/closet/room.

As for vegging, you shouldn't need bulbs of that magnitude. They sell "full spec" bulbs (23w) for vegging for like $7 or you can get a two pack of 23w 5500k(blue color) for like $5. They will both do the same for vegging.

Thanks with the HID would I have to worry about ventilation because I heard those could get rather hot. Do you know anythin about CO2 with this type of setup?

Oh Ok...

Whats your stance on lighting for perpetual grow using a limited amount of space?
For a perpetual grow, keeping your mother's and clones under a CFL or flourescent will work just fine. You may want to flower under a HPS though.

I know you said you dont want to half ass anything. Well, doing 65 plants in an apartment you wont really have a choice. You'll need to think more about ventilation/ odor control than anything else really, because 65 plants is going to be stankin!

I've been using a 1000w hps in a apartment for over a year.. no problems. buy a blower, a scrubber if u need one f- co2 wait until you get the basics down before adding more elements then you can keep track of. heat kills thc. runa 400-600w use t5s for veg :o)

Depending on where you live... usually electric companies dont report increase use.. you should be fine as long as you pay your bill. However I started a grow in an apt that was kind of an old building.. nice and restored, and i even had my own breaker box with 20amps so i paid my own electric. But the owner caught on because i was sucking up so much electricity the businesses downstairs were complaining. I had to relocate my system a week into it veg stage. huge bummber but they are doing fine now... good luck
