I am currently doing a grow in soil, however I found these instructions how to build an aeroponic veg unit on the high Times site High Times > How to Grow a Pound Every Three Weeks however it is designed for growing 18 plants. He uses 2 18 gallon totes, now I am only going to grow 8 plants at the most, so could I get away with using 10 gallon totes? With that unit I calculated about 1 gallon of water per plant is that the general rule of thumb? if not what is the general rule of thumb?

Thank you

aeroponically the plants grow fast and furious, roots get large, when the plants get a decent size they will be able to suck up atleast 1/2 gallon a day! i mean you can use a 3gallon bucket if you had no choice, its all about ease of use, do you really want to add water daily? keep in mind if you can have a larger rez in your space do it, with always adding water theres PH and nutes to maintain. im not sure if you ever did any hydro before but before you start building make sure your room temps are stable, water temps over 72F is asking for trouble, 75F is just about geaurenteed root rot and shut your grow down
