Aerogarden Extra grow with Afghan Kush Ryder at 4 weeks.

So this is my first Aerogarden grow. I thought I would share what I have so far.

Strain: Afghan Kush Ryder / Auto-Fem from World of Seeds.
Medium: Aerogarden Extra, with RO'd water. 5 inch airstone in the res.
Light: Lights that came with the aerogarden. Three 26 watt CFL's cycle is 20/4
Nutes: Just using notes that came with the Aerogarden. I know this was not recommended, but wanted to see for myself.

Currently this plant is around 4 weeks old, and looking great. With the size of the reservoir, and amount of light i'm sticking to just one plant. There are signs of flowering, and the smell already fills the room. See the picture, it speaks for itself. I would like to hear any comments, but i think its looking good.

Aqueous: you should have done your homework. Aeogarden's nutes are designed for culinary herbs. They should be okay during veg but they can be a bitch to use for flowering. You might want to look at other nutes. I wish that there was an easier way, but I suggest you look at the following resources, especially the parts pertaining to hydroponics:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You’ll also want to subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. This will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety. I hope that helps. HSA

I'm going for 4 plants first time, same set up: I'd be happy if mine look like yours in 4 weeks! Good job....I'm gonna switch to 12/12 at the 4 week mark as I'm growing 4 plants. Gonna use the AG nutes until flower, then switch to a better bloom nute. Good luck, I'll be following!

HSA,
Thanks for the advice, but trust me there is no anxiety here. I consider this just an experiment, and my other grows have been FF soil, and FF nutes. My second grow will be the same setup with the AG, with better nutes using the same strain. I want to really see how much difference there really is. I'm keeping a very close eye on things, and if the the plant starts to show signs that its not happy, I will react accordingly. For now its looking better than any soil grow I have done.

Wow, 4 plants. I have to add 1 quart of water every single day now, so be prepared to see that this reservoir might be too small for more than one plant. Good luck.

I'm too chronic to grow one at a time! LOL...figured I'd go for a sea of green for first grow...then I'll probs get another one to expand. They are nifty little kits aren't they:)

Hey Guys: I'd like to see what you folks came up with because my limited experience has shown that one, two, or maybe even three small plants in an A/G were okay but four was always too much and three was often pushing it. If that's just one big beautiful plant in Aqueous's A/G I don't think I'd even want two in there because they not only need nutes form that little reservoir but light too. The only down side to A/G's is that they get overcrowded easy.

Have any of you tried aimed Mylar covered reflectors to light up the lower parts of your plants? HSA

drop your light dude like 5 inches, and its a AUTO i have grown WOS auto afghan kush , and the whole point of autos is dont have to go to 12/12! its will ruin your plant dont be a dumbass. How about you study how to prowperly grow in the aerogarden before wasting a 35$ seed

002.jpg003.jpgday 31 NYC DIESEL AUTO FROM JOINT DOCTOR and already a week into flowering , this is how you do it in the aero. i will be harvesting in 5 weeks. watch and learn

Aqueous,

This is my first time trying to grow, I have the Aerogarden extra, Afghan Kush Ryder and I cannot get my seeds to grow more than an inch high. I'm checking PH levels and they seem to be fine, I didn't think I was supposed to add any nutes for another week. I'm in the middle of my second failed attempt any advice you could give being that you are growing kush in the aero extra would be great.

Thanks,
-Bean

I ended switching to Advanced Nutrients nutes and followed their recommended feeding schedule. I got about 1.5oz when I shopped her at the end. Don't use the Aerogarden timer, use always on, and connect the light to your own timer and follow recommendation for the seeds you chose.

Sorry for the late update on this grow. I had some issues with the AK Ryder seeds and wanted to mention what happened. Basically they never auto flowered, I had to switch the light cycle to 12/12 after about 8 weeks into the grow. By the time they started flowering within a few days of switching the lights, the plant was freakin huge, and had lots of signs of nutrient deficiencies from using the Aerogarden nutes. I switched to Advanced Nutrients and they worked well. My advise would be to stick to a small/short RELIABLE autoflowering strain, or start cycling your lights to 12/12 within 2 weeks of sprouting. Also, do not use Aerogarden nutes if you want a healthy plant. Also, the plant will drain the reservoir about every day if it becomes a monster like mine did. I will not grow the AK Ryder again, due to this not being a stable strain in my opinion.

I had the same issue my first go around. You are most likely adding nutes too soon, that was my mistake. Otherwise, make sure you are using RO'd water and PH is correct for at least 2 weeks until the seedling is well established.

You lucky bastard! It seems somehow your pheno was light sensitive and not autoflowering, you might have been able to take clones and should have, that would be an awesome plant, an autoflower that doesnt autoflower! Think, all the benefits like fast growth and short height of an auto with the added bonus of being able to flip it to flowering when you want! That could allow this plant to do what it's meant to, produce huge nugs, In this next grow of mine I hope I get a pheno like yours
