I'm sorry but your plants look bad, I mean they look so bad for day 12. I'm on Day 7 and my Lowryders look better.

Check the link in my thread.

Hey everyone. Changing the reservoir and adding new nutes tomorrow.

The plants are looking great. Most are very short and busy, some are somewhat more spindly. However, I am growing the joint doctor lowryder mix, so that could be because one strain is lowryder #2 and the other is just regular lowryder.

No plants (to my knowledge) have started to show sex yet.

To those who commented earlier: yeah.... definitely might run out of room here :]. There is plenty of vertical space, but these are some bushy motherfuckers and they're already growing into one another... :D

Lights are currently on a 20/4 cycle. I've moved the two additional CFL lamps to the front instead of the sides to hope to get some of the middle plants to grow bushy and not vertical.

I'm going to have to move the light head up pretty soon... the biggest ones are getting to be within 3 inches or so of the lights... don't want them to burn!

They're drinking a ton of water each day right now... here's my question to the world:

Now that I'm pretty sure they'll actually be drinking more than 1 gallon per week (I change/clean the reservoir once a week), should I be refilling the reservoir every day with regular nute-less pHed water, or should I be refilling it with nutrient water?

I've been doing it with regular pHed water last week (because the plants got a teeny nute-burned). If nobody says otherwise, I plan on refilling the displaced water with nutrient rich pHed water every day.

Thanks guys!

So even if the plants drink more than a gallon of water in a week, should I still be topping it off with non-nutrient water? or if they're drinking more than the reservoir size it seems like I should start topping off with nutrient rich water.

Ideas?

Yea man just fresh water, you can experiment, thats what i did, i started at 1/4, then like 3 days later added another 1/4 wait like 5 days then 1/2, shit like that, tho i have 7 gallon's compared to one, but its still the same

Hey again guys... I also had one last regular every day question. I've been foilar feeding my soil grow daily or so... but... do I want to spray the actual bud sites, or just the leaves? It doesnt make much sense in my head to spray nutes on the hairs themselves and all... it makes more sense to just hit the fan leaves and such.

What do you guys think?

If you're going to foilar feed your plant(s) I would definitely avoid getting the bud sites themselves wet. From what I understand too much humidity can cause mold to form rather quickly in the buds/flowers. I'd say water on the fan leaves is probably cool but you might want to just avoid foilar feeding altogethor on mature plants.

As for your question about topping off the reservoir with either pure PH'd water or with nutes added... well, I've been wondering the same thing. I've just done some searching here and on different sites and all I'm finding is a lot of conflicting advice. If I find some solid evidence one way or the other I'll share it. Peace for now
Yea man just topp off with fresh ph'd water before flushing/feeding
I have been topping off with my pre mixed nutes (GH trio) since they started growing so fast. Maybe that's why they have gotten so dam big on me the past few days..... :bigjoint:

Changed the rez today. Pretty sure I've found my first male... (or hermaph?). Not entirely sure yet... going to give it another day or two max and then kill. I'm growing lowryder #1 and #2 so the males are supposed to sex a week or so before the females if I remember correctly. I'm going to get one of those damn SD card readers soon too so I can post up pictures to hopefully get some sexing help :).

Other than that, they all look great. I'm going to start topping off the water they drink with pHed and nutrient rich water instead of fresh pHed water from now on. If they start taking a negative turn I'll definitely flush and fix things... but this is my first grow so I might as well experiment :]

I'm doing the same thing you are but no extra lights. My seeds are currently germinating and I cant wait. I have them in a closed container but will now be putting them in a ziplock lol.

Cool, I hope just adding PH'd and nutrient rich water when you need to top off the rez works for you. Its amazing how difficult it is to find a straight-forward answer on how to top off a hydro/aeroponic reservoir in regards to nutrients.

From what I've gathered most people are just topping off with fresh PH'd water and then flushing at the end of every week and are able to keep ther PPMs pretty much stable. It appears to me that growers with larger reservoirs seem to run into less problems this way then those with small (like the Aerogarden). The potential problem with adding nutrient balanced water is that the plants absorb only the nutrients in the water that they need, leaving some others behind which then build up and can become toxic to the plants because of their excess. If your plants are drinking a ton then lets just hope that they're taking in nutrients equally so that when you add water with the nutes already in it everything just stays perfectly balanced.

If you see any nutrient burning and then flush the rez in response I'm sure your young plants will recover pretty quickly. I've seen several growers topping off daily with regular PH'd water one day and then nutrient water with the nutes at only 1/2 strength the next day, alternating daily like that between reservoir flushes. Like you said, experimenting is about the best you can do!

Until your next update, keep an eye on those males (although I'm sure you don't need anyone to tell you that)! Peace

Hahahahaha, that is true... it did sounds pretty gay kraken :D.

I waited until I was sure, but I've killed the first plant last night. It was 100% definitely male (or I GUESS could have been hermie)... but I didn't want to take my chances. I haven't had a lot of experience distinguishing between males and females... but this one seemed very obvious to me. Luckily the lowryders are supposed to have the males sex about a week ahead of the femaels :]

I should be getting that card reader today (if all goes well)... so... keep you all updated :]
