OK. first of all I want to thank all the people that have contributed to this site, taking their time to help people like me who's mids are going in 1000 different direcions trying to get all this together.
that being said I am about to attempt my first INDOOR grow. I am turning a moderate sized deep freeze into a flowering grow cab. i have purchased a 400 w HPS with cool tube. I plan on cutting in holes for tube exhaust. also 1 more for regular vent / air circ. and another for a scrubber. I was thinking that a bunch of 120mm PC fans may do the job. this I will get more into in a bit.
I have about 10 42 W CFLs of cool and bright temp. I was going to try to clone / veg in a rubbermaid tote. w heat pad under. must be at least a 40 gal. one of the largest ones you can get. Obviously with my limited height i think i will be LSTing the crap out of them.
So...I had some questions on the type of hydro systems i see. I was going to use another tote to set up a drip / aero combo for the flowering cab. 2 pumps. and I assume only a drip for the veg. that is still under consideration. i was thinking of trying rockwool plugs / hydroton in 3 or 4 inch net pots.
1. would transplanting from drip to aero screw shit up?
2.when using an aero set up if the pump fails wouldn't the roots still absorb nutes from what is left in the res? much like a DWC system.
3. would it be beneficial to even use the drip method with aero? my plan was to mist the res a few times a day and possibly drip 24/7. this I need some ideas with as far as feeding schedules. Kinda confusing. my aero pump is non submersable and provides a good PSI. (used for misitng dart frog tanks in the past) and I will was gonna get 2 small sub pumps for drip
4. nutes...my local hydro store has about 25 pages of nutes and I want someone's opinons on what to go with. I see too much floating around on these boards to really concentrate on 1 thing. must be the stoner in me. also I don't want to be sold on some expensive shit from a sales guy at worms way wanting more commish or something. mind you , as most on here i need something that works well and is forgiving for newbs. also are supplements typically needed for these hydro nutes?
Now some ?s on the scrubber. I think this is pretty self explaining from the info that is easily gathered. but I wanted to ask if anyone has used the carbon filters sold at like Home depot or lowes similar to a furnace filter. maybe double up?
this is by far the most important aspect of concealing this op. I can have NO smell and minimal noise. Although it will be under lock and key, I do have kids and would rather not go down that road if yall know what i am saying.
this sums it up. If i can get some of these questions locked down I know i will be well on my way. so that is my general plans for this. please let me know what you think, any suggestions will be definately considered. thanks again for reading!!
