Advice Wanted - First MMJ Grow - 3 Things

Hello RIU!

Just got the papers signed to legally possess and grow my own medical marijuana. The kind Doctor advised that I should start my grow room while waiting for the card to arrive in the mail. So far I got my set up pretty much mind mapped; all except 2 things. Before I keep going, I'll explain my plan of attack.

Since I am stricken with a auto-immune disease which heavily affects my brain, I have to make it as simple as possible and yield the most green gold as possible for what I an afford, which isn't a whole lot. I have therefore opted for feminized auto-flowers; Black Domina, Black Jack and Blue Mammoth. I will be using a 7' cube grow tent, 6 gallon grow pots and premium sterile gardener's mix from the local soil farm. I prefer soil over hydro as I cannot fathom such a project anymore.

Lighting Plan:
Two 600w HPS Setups
or
One 1,000w HPS Setup
or
Ten 200w (Incandescent Equivalent) CFL Lights

I'm leaning towards the HPS since I'm not worried about electricity bill (included, great landlords) nor law enforcement as I will be staying within my 15 plant limit. My main concern is climate; I like in Northern Canada and it does get cold up here in the winter, -40 Celcius isn't rare. Today is "Doomsday" (LOL) and it is -15 Celcius outside. I fear the CFL won't generate enough heat, even in winter as I'll be growing in a quite cool place year round, a garage attic. How much heat would them two light bulbs, in an enclosed area, get to in winter, in freezing weather outside. Would it be too much heat for a tent anyways? Would CFL's provide enough heat or would a space heater be required?

My other problem are which nutes to use. I read for hours on end online about this but never found a good or specific answer; I need specific! The disease affects me in a way that, I have information on one part of my brain but the calculator like function, "Memory Recall" (MR), is severely affected and returns either nothing or distorted representations. Also, since English is a very narrow language, the information I need gets cut off from the language barrier since I never was raised to make every sentence cut in half. Not hatin' on the English but it is a "shortcut" oriented language, for anyone who speaks multiple languages. Please do your best, I appreciate those who try to help even if I don't understand. Please don't reply with "use the search function". I used a better one, it's called GOOGLE!!

As for the nutes, I intend on using bat guano but will need something else with it. Question on this one is simple, pretend it's a sweepstakes giveaway, you get two free products, which ones would you take? I'm leaning towards Advanced Nutrients' Big Bud and Bud Candy; I heard autoflowers need carb nutes so the Bud Candy seems to do that and other stuff, seems like a popular duo.

Would mainly look for advice, tips and tricks, share experience, what not. Surely autofems are becoming increasingly popular, surely some google surfers could find this information useful, and all in one spot.

Play Station: Please separate your paragraphs normally please, I have a real bitch of a time reading 6-7 lines of paragraph due to eye issues.

sorry to hear you have problems, at least you have your card

i would go for 2 600w better light coverage and you can get the lights closer to the plants, better penetration

you will need a heater at night, try to insulate

i dont know alot about organic nutes so i'll leave that for someone else

Thanks for your input Bob :) About insulation, what would you recommend? I don't think it's too wise to use fiber glass bats and the garage attic is quite "open air", would a big thick blanked provide enough insulation? I'd like to avoid putting more strain on the breaker as I've no idea ow much it can handle...

I would just grow it in your bedroom closet, less work and go with the 1 600w hps if you have a grow shop in the town you live in try to find Advanced nutrients if they don't have it or there is no grow shop close to you then hear is there web site,I have bought a few things from them cause I live in northern Ontario and there is no grow shop for 2 hours,,lol. If this is your first grow before you jump right in to it and spend money on things that you might not use or need I would do as much reading on how to grow and what to grow in,if you are going to use soil try a soil less mix.It is all most the same but less forgiving then say hydroponics .good luck http://www.advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/

Do not go with cfls, go with 2 600 watt hps
Get a space heater and some sort of thermostat, keep the grow as close to 75 at all times as you can.

I use seedling mats under my plants to keep them warm

you may want to consider making your own fem seeds
it is not hard and will save you a lot of money over time

bubble wrap is good for insulation, they used it to insulate the polytunnels where i use to work, you definitely need a heater as you dont want the temps to drop below 60 deg
