advice please?!

I have a 3x3 area to grow and not much money to go all out with the lighting. Right now i am a week into growing and the plants look very healthy and growing quickly. my setup is about 8 small light fixtured wired together and screwed into the top of the grow area, tin foil taped to all sides, and i currently have the plants in the regular sized solo cups, there are 4 of them and they all look good. i am using a 14 watt energy saving light bulb which is equal to a 60 watt. everything is goin very well. i just need some tips on how to maximize my yield

go to home depot and get these things. 3x y splitters ($6.50 total) like the ones in these pics. then get 4 26W (100W Equivalent) CFL bulbs, 5000-6500K these will cost 8-10 dollars. for about 15-20 youv'e increased your light by times. good luck dude. one other thing also. i always get nervous watering my plants because i do not know wether i am giving them too little or too much water?

how can i know how much to water them
