Advice on this Light?

It will not magically increase in efficiency because it is now caseless ....
Which can be an electrical hazard BTW.......

The glass is what traps heat ... however it also protects the leds.

You are handicapped by the components used AND the efficiency of the drivers ( which can run around 80% or so if you are lucky. )

It will grow a plant. You’ll be able to harvest a few ounces off of that light. Probably about 130 actual watts.

Obviously not the greatest light in the world but it will absolutely grow/flower 1 plant if that’s all you have.

Put the case back on. You won’t be gaining anything having it off.

Ok i put the case back on, I kinda figured it would be a hazard just thought I'd ask. Thanks for the reply

A few Ounces is all i'm looking for and then ill upgrade the light. So thats good to hear thanks for the reply

Haha nice, well either way it will likely do just fine for one plant. Good luck with it. 130-150 watts most likely.
Awesome man thank you thats all im looking for I figure i get a couple ounces now with it, and then upgrade to a bigger nicer light afterwards. Meanwhile I can have some other plants vegging under my HLG boards and have them ready for when i get the better light.

What does everyone think about this light? I got it on amazon a couple years back and was thinking of throwing 1 plant under it. It says its 300w but I doubt it. Was also wondering if I should run it with the case off? will the light be more efficient with it off or is it a safety hazard? Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in. :grin:View attachment 4386573 View attachment 4386574 View attachment 4386577
Itll do you for now until you get the bug and upgrade.
You could eventually run it at around ~30 watts for side lighting by wiring all the strings in parallel. Waste not want not.

My advice is to repurpose that panel for mood lighting : ).....use your valuable time/power on a proper run, an extra ounce or two will make up for it easily imo.

It does look like it haha that's funny, I have sprouted and started growing an Purple Roc Berry autoflower that I am gonna grow underneath mine and see what happens.
The light bulbs get really hot so don't let it get too close to the plant orbit may burn it and run it at 18/6 cause if you run it over 12 hrs straight the fans will lock up on you!!!
