If you decide to grow mint, DO NOT put it in the ground - use a pot. Mint roots are rhizhomes and they will grow horizontally and sprout more stems from the roots - basically your garden would be overgrown with mint and nothing else.

i like to place mint into a hanging basket and have it near the door, any slight breeze gives a waft of mint scent with it.

my parsley chives and basil have all been planted in eco friendly peat compost and are realy taking off. they stay in the greenhouse shaded by the cucumber plants. have notice snails and slugs have NOT eaten any basil and keep away from it. so i will be using that with my other fruiting plants.
