Advice on grow room built into hill/basically a ground floor cellar

So I live in a place that's built into a hill. We have storage rooms in the back. However, I don't use them for storage since due to plumbing limitations of being built into a hill, water has to run through the rooms to drain. Apparently in the winter the water can rise, enough that a pump is installed in one of the rooms, according to the landlord -- I rent but the grow would be legal and it'd be hard to mess up the rooms, not to mention landlord is NEVER there and a gigantic dick -- they're basically dirt with some electricity wired in (woo!).

Now the biggest limitation - because of all that these rooms are very moist. So much so that when my gf stored some clothes back there for a month or so she pulled them out and mold had started to grow, and this was during a very dry summer.

I guess the only way to tell would be to get a humidistat reading, but it would be worth trying to dehumidify the room or does it sound too unfeasible if it's already a mold room? (I jokingly called them the 'mold rooms' even before we actually found mold growing in them, because they smell SUPER damp/dank... and I don't mean "dank" the way this forum usually means it!) Can a dehumidifier pretty much get any humidity level under control? I'll try to get some measurements and even humidity readings if it'd help.

They're about the only free space we have though so it'd be a great indoor grow spot. Thanks for reading!

hyperweed what I would suggest:

- make the room moisture tight with plastic or reflectix.
- build an air floor (raised, will take care of your water problems)
- pump CO2 rich air from your house into your grow room, it will have good humidity
- pump the O2 rich air from your grow room into your house in the winter to capture the heat, and out doors in the summer to vent the heat.

I would suggest something like a Whirlpool dehumidifier.It does a great job of getin excess water out of the air.It drains into a container in the back which can be hooked to a hose to drain all the time.I really like mine.I use it downstairs which is 1/3 under ground.The best I can remember,it costed about 150$,but it`s a workhorse.It`ll pull a gallon and a half of water out of the air a day.Hope this helped.Good luck on gettin your grow room set up..Stay Happy,Healthy,and High!!
