Hi. I have grown outside my home now every year fir a bit now, but I have never really fertilized. Always just mixed my soil with garden soil usually Miraclegrow. Always one gallon buckets. If I fertilize, what should I use and should I use larger containers to produce larger amounts to be competey self efficient?

yeah...i would advise you to get the biggest pot you can...i am using 100 and 65 gallon smart pots...be careful when asking about nutes...people treat them like their kids...and always think theirs is the best.....with that said... i use dyna-gro inside and jacks classic outside....

or you can make subcools super soil...and not worry about phing....

good soil like fox farms ocean or roots organic....

i keep hearing recommendations for huge oversized smart pots, root space is a must, but for most growers this is simply unecessarily big, 65-100 gal is gonna take alot of soil to fill and propably any where from 3 -5 gal of water each watering when in full flower, if not more. for the average grower, who isnt looking for a 10 ft plant, finishing in 5 - 20 gal container will do well . now ur not gonna get no 3 lb plant in a 5 gal bucket, but a half lb isnt outa the question, is a 1/2 lb plant reasonable? id say so. so puckhead, id recommend at the very smallest finish ur plants in a 5 gal bucket, those 1 gal will do for a little while during veg, maybe 4 weeks or so, but will soon outgrow the container, so keep an eye on that. As for the miracle grow, its not as horrible as ppl say, just eaz up on it, not too much. id say half strength, feed every 10 days, or as needed. problems usually arise when ppl overfeed with MG, or overwater(in turn over feeding) u have general garden knowledge so u should be good in that regard, just dnt let ppl overcomplicate growing, keep it simple,
