Advice from an electrician needed

Hey, Im currently runnin a grow in my shed and im running it off the electricity from my house.
I was thinkin could I run a seperate line bypassin the meter straight to my shed and run the grow in my shed for free? I want to keep my house seperate and pay that bill as usual.
The reason i want to do this is im thinking of adding another 600w hps and dont want to draw any attention from the jump in my montly bill. I usually pay 80 euro a month, since i started growing that went up to 160 so im guessing it will jump to 240 euro if i add another light.

so you want to get free power to run your grow? and by free you mean STEAL?

Why not come up with another idea that won't draw additional scrutiny to your grow?

Yeah these lights are expensive to run, If my bill goes up anymore ill only draw attention.
What else can i do? These big electric companies make massive profits so doubt 1200w will cripple them.
Advice from an electrician for more info on this would be appreciated.

if you cant afford to grow, step out of the grow room!!!!! DONT STEAL POWER!!!!!! dont steal period!!! man up and pay your power bills!

I have no problem payin the bill, I do have a problem raisin some eyebrows in the electrical company wen my bill has tripled. I was goin to leave my house hooked up the the meter and just run my grow off a separate line. I just wanted to know if it can be done. Should i stop growing because thats illegal here in Ireland aswell?

I'm an electrician, so here's my advice.

Don't bypass the meter illegally.

Hey, I think Demon is trying to say that u will get in more trouble if u steal from the power company. Now I am a legal marijuana patient so I am not worried about cops, but I can also sympathize with ur situation. I pay $40/month to run a 1000w HPS 12hrs/day, I run 2($80/month for both). I run a 1000w halide 18 hours a day, this comes to $60/month. So that is $140/month for 3000w. Now I get my power bill every 2 months so I will break it down to monthly. My power bill before I grew was $90/month. Since I started using 3000w-$240. Now $90+$140=$230. So u double ur power bill. A cable box pulls as much power as a refrigerator. For u and a closet grow 600w is perfect. They are the most efficient and cheapest form of artificial light. Now u could go LED if u got the cash. LED is expemsive to buy, but draws half the power, with very little heat, so I have read! Good luck, and for Karma sakes, never steal. Not even from the man, someday u might be the man!!!

Unless u are pulling an ungodly amount of power, ur power company will gladly accept ur check every month!!! Never steal!

The amount of power needed for a small grow is about the same as very regular use of a modern desktop pc.
Modern desktops have 500w power supplys. (Just imagine all the people playing word of warcraft)

So, unless your planning big, I dont think the power company will inform the police cause you might have 1 or 2 new computers in your house.

The advantages of your own grow, wheter you smoke or sell, far outweigh the power bill.
And, not to be a bitch ... the power company sees all power consumed ... wether it runs by your meter or not .... worst case they notice power going missing in your street.

First off fuck the these power company they are the thiefs any ways , theres a shit load of 500+ light shows in wear houses running by passed every day ... i dont see any one getting busted.
And Do any of you stupid electricians think him stealing 1000 watts would make a difference ? for them to know if ur bypassing power they have to chek the wire and see how hot it gets ,
if they have any suspicion they will get a warrant to put a device straight on your line and see if your using more power then your meter is recording . New or old meter makes no difference , they cant know wats not being registered unless they go out there and chek for them selfs.

To awnser your question , yes it is possible ... BUT really not worth having some electrician come and bypass ur meter to save 600watts ... its not an easy thing to do . No one will notice any thing , like buddy said a pc is 600 watts , ps3 350 watts , tv 125 watts , oven 5000watts , small heater 1500watts . Chek ur bill again its impossible a 600 watt will cost 80 euros

Things are different all around the world. In Seattle we pay $.10/kwh. Now a 600w @18hrs= $37/month. Now we use renewable electricity, Hydro. Which is cheap and sustainable. Now on the east coast of the U.S. they primarily use coal and nuclear, very expensive and unsustainable resources. Some people on the east coast pay $.24/kwh. That's 140% more than me and that is only 3000 miles away. Not only do they pay a high rate for electricity, most houses use oil heaters. I have central air. I have what is called an electric heat pump, so in the summer time I get AC, and in the winter time I get heat. So for me to run this and my house stuff cost me $90/month. I know people on the east coast that pay 3 times this. That would piss me off too, I would want to bypass it. But doing so, could cause death.

I do not condone stealing power from the power company…

They produce 7-15% more than they will need daily, and the extra power is just wasted, and never used…
The power companies, are making huge profits, at your expense… So what you are saying, you just want to use that little extra kilowatts that they waste…
I say, do not try this at home… not to be done by someone stoned….

If you can… get out your last bill….
Does it have the “Read” date?
Go out to your meter…
Does it have a metal wire lock?
The little thing that holds the meter ring from falling off…
Take a pair of wire cutters and snip the meter lock…
Now pull the meter ring off ….
Put the ring and wire lock back on stealth on and holding like you were never there...

Wait until the Saturday after your meter read day…
Saturday morn… wake, [no bake]…
Go out to meter…
[Ring is off and sitting on ground]
Turn off main breaker….
Now Grab Meter with both hands and pull straight out and off….
Your house [if you are holding meter] now has no power…
Those four prongs on back of meter slide right into the four prongs on meter socket…
Do not touch meter socket, you will die… [touch meter back/glass/etc just do not stick your finger into socket
You will die...
Now plug meter back in…Plug it in... and pul it out again... get the feel for it....
Carefully……
Now pull meter out again, you’ve got the hang of it…
NOW….
Put your meter back in, Up Side Down…..
If you have a standard analog meter, it will just run backwards...
Leave it upside down for a week, the next Saturday morn, you Turn it back over….
You will now get a bill with you getting billed for only ½ your power….
Don’t try this if you are afraid to die….also, Yes I know you are a stoner... but please do this the first time not Hi...
Remember, you did not hear it from me…..

"Stupid electricians"? ...this coming from someone who can't spell or type proper sentences?

If you feel that the electrical companies are "thiefs" (sic), then instead of stealing, invest in your own infrastructure so you don't have to pay them. Very simple.

Just because the electrical companies are large monopolies doesn't give you the right to steal from them. How would you like it if someone came along and ripped off a good portion of your crop right at harvest time, just because someone thought you were a thief (and if you're stealing power, you are one).
