Advice for a beginner...

Promix and peat are hydrophobic coco is the exact opposite it will suck water up.like a sponge even when its bone dry.

I prefer some dry cycles especially when trying to establish roots.

Note that dry doesnt have to mean bone dry lol

But i have taken coco plants there too on occasion and asside from some wilting they can take it.

I used to cut my coco with perlite so it would dry faster .

But it also means you have to water more frequently as well :)

My last coco grow my pots where in stages.

Seeds was 50/50 coco perlite then they got uppoted to 70/30 then the final pot was 100 coco.

It lets the root system build as it grows so its not waterlogged as a seedling and dry as an adult :)

My rapid rooters just arrived in the mail do you use a tray or keep it in its final pot (sorry if that sounds stupid)

I put them in those little seedling trays just so they don’t fall over. I love rapid rooters, like I said, they’re foolproof.

This pic was taken right before I transplanted to 4” plastic pots. I stick with seedling soil (finely ground peat, perlite & vermiculite) for the 4”, then next transplant into a pro-mix with worm castings. I’m going with super soil next grow, but that’s another topic.

It could have fallen over due to a lanky stem

You might be able to set it up with a chopstick to support it.

Post a pic.

I know it sucks but if you can nurse it through it will give you good exp

Unless its shrivled then shes a goner

Yeah she was just bent over not shriveled but for it to be supporting its self the day before then just to fall over i didn't think there was any hope especially since autos dont do stress well i just scrapped the whole thing but youve been very helpful and informative if youd like ill tag you when im back in action i spent most the day cleaning and ordering new medium ect. So probably be germing within 2-3 weeks

Coco and perlite hempy buckets. The 6/9 nute mix, occasional calmag has been my goto from the beginning. I do pitch some myco in as I plant, but other than that, just tap water. Any issues I've had were environmental. Sorry it's not working out for ya. Keep trying. You'll find out what you grow good with.

Beneficial bacteria is better for hydro.

Can't remember where I heard that befor.

coco is hydro.

Might be something youd be interested in. Might be true haha

Perhaps true, I dunno. It works for me. I guess I did forget to add that I do add hydroguard, just not every time I water.

When they seem a little lanky good idea to stake them, I use 8 or 10" wooden skewers like you use for shish kabobs, some people use chopsticks, sometimes I'll also bury them a little deeper too, better luck with the next plant

Agree and they are cheap for a big pack :)

coco isn't hydro, it's just not soil. you can't ph it like dwc, you don't feed it like dwc. it's a hybrid, it has portions of both, and things of its own that neither has. call a spade a spade, but coco is a club, not a spade

I did

i would feed once a week and just hit it with plain water when it dried in between worked great :)

Then again lots of peeps do constants with great results too differnt strokes right

cheap coco can have a couple of problems, they collect it along beaches where coconut trees grow, so if they don't process it well, it can be full of salt. and they usually won't charge it, so it will really suck up the magnesium.

Is botanicare cocogro in hempy buckets a good plan?
