blower that will work if your willing to spend a ffortune is that a 65 or 100 watt? i can get a 42 watt from target for $5 and a socket and cord for $4 or a power strip with 4 sockets for $12.

you could make an easy diy 164w (actual wattage) light with 4 42w bulbs for $32 how much is this thing?

noobe here, Just had a curious question, if a 22gram bud (wet) was dried, what do you think the aprox weight would be dry? this is a single main bud from a plant growing about 6 other buds about half that size... ( I will come back and let you know that answer as soon as it's dry'd and curred (aprox a week and a half from now)

my setup is.... hydroponic plastic tubs... spray nosels and bubblers...

1 - 1.5 week clone (4' t8 shop lights (4 bulbs)),
3weeks veg(4' t8 shop lights (4 bulbs) + 1 24w cfl in middle), topped after 3 nodes (ends up with aprox 6-10 main cola's all aprox the same size and the plant is around 12" around)
4week flower (4' t8 shop lights(4 bulbs), aprox 12"-14" with maybe 12-15nodes (reason for flowing under shop lights first 4weeks is that the plants only grow another 10-20% taller
4 weeks flower under single 400watt hps on 6' mover

"advanced nutrients" nutes changed every cycle (two months)
added about 100ml of molases per tank at last two weeks of flowering (then cleaned the damb sprayers the next day...lol)
plants end up around 18" with aprox 6-10 cola's with an aprox weight of 6-7oz (dry) per 8 plants (4.5'x2.5' space)

this is my second cycle growing... any thoughts?

im thinking about a 7-10g give or but it depends on strain, how it was treated in the last few weeks of growth and on how it was trimmed.

Cool, That's about what I expect (around 7-8grams)

I'm thinking around 4grams per bud for the others... so maybe a little over 1oz per plant... a little better than my first time around, but then, you usually expect that to be the case if you learned from it...lol

Strain is Master Kush

I think I'll let a couple flower completely under the (2) 4' shop lights (4bulbs) just to see how much difference it makes, I know alot of people say it's less, but they don't say exactly how much less... for instance, if I'm at 100watts per 4x2.5 and get .5oz per plant, then am I'm better off using them instead of a 400 and mover?.... (just use more plants and more space to make up the difference....

oh... after 2-3 weeks in flowering, I've moved my light from 12hours to 13hours on.... seems to work fine.... plants finished at the right time.... should help add light without adding more fixtures....

I put 4 plants per tub tub's are aprox 2'x2.5' (I find light coverage more important than light "penetration" from my observations)

Thinking about it... I guess not... 400w Shop would be like 8oz, vs. 12oz for 400w hps on 6' mover... Although the heat would be significantly less... maybe 1/3 more power for shoplights would be the equivilant... with prob 75% less heat.... hmm...

yea the problem with shop lights is youll have an OK top cola but the rest will be shit popcorn buds... you simply dont penetrate the canopy with flouros unless its a t5 or a huge cfl and even then its minimal compared to hid.

Thought I'd post back... My 22gram (wet) was 7.3g dry (now in jar cure) and the other ones were around 3.7g-4g

i call bull too ,cfls are good ,but by far nowhere near as good as hps or mh,any way cfl is alternative method anyway, for the low cost,no space operation, like day and night, apples and oranges ,just a different animal.

Only total newbs try to grow tall trees under CFLs, and only haters use this to base claims that CFLs suck.

CFLs produce better quality light, HID produce greater quantity of light.

CFLs absolutely can produce as well as a same wattage HID...if the grower isn't a clueless newb.

CFL's are just a better alternative for noobs (i've never really grown with anything else, so i'll label myself a noob, no shame) plus cost wise, it's just easier for those trying to grow personal smoke.

to each their own.

Call me noobish for quoting, but this is what my man Jorge has to say on the matter:

Lumen to Watt ratio:
HPS Lights: 140 lumens/watt
Metal Halide: 120 lumens/watt
Compact Florescents: 100 lumens/watt

Lumen Output in Relation to Distance:
Using a 1k watt Metal Halide Lamp:
<1ft: 9k-12k lumens
<2ft: 4100-8k lumens
<3ft: 2100-4k lumens
<4ft: 1300-2k lumens
<5ft: 800-1200 lumens

Using a 400 watt Metal Halide:
<1ft: 3100-6k lumens
<2ft: 1400-3k lumens
<3ft: 600-1200 lumens
<4ft: 300-500 lumens

He never goes on to specify output for cfl's; however considering the proximity they can be kept at, proper placement could yield just as much (or possibly more) than hps or metal halide.

At HD They got these 3 way 32 W cfls 2700K i believe. They have them on a mark down for $2.75 or so. I pluged one into a socket and it never gets hot and doesnt seem as bright as 27W or 42 W. Im wondering if its not running at the full 32W. its said to be used with a dimmer. I think it doesn't run full 32 W when in a regular socket. They were still great to tuck all around lower leaves of a 17" plant. Leaves touch without burn.

Low watt with bigger bulb with higher heat dissipation. Let me know your thoughts. Im sure there is a reason there marked down to less than $3 bucks!

"If you want a 3-way bulb for your standing or table lamp, do NOT get this product. The stem is not long enough (rather is interupted by a jetting out piece) to actually screw in the bulb."

"It's large and it works for about an hour until it turns into a 2-way light. The 50 watt setting didn't work after about an hour of usage. It then became a 2-way bulb. Would not recomend this to anyone. Don't know if any CFL 3-way bulbs are good?"
