ANyone gave this model a shot. Whats your opinon on it?>
I love how they act like the Cree XT-E is the latest and greatest LED tech,it was for Cree a couple years ago but is like 3 generations behind what you can buy from them now. You can get Cree LED's that put out more than twice the light per watt.
Nice ! What area you covering with both of yours ?I have the xte 100 and xte 200 and they are growing some straight up dank. They are really really really dense nugs. Usually a whole jar equals and ounce but now half a jar is it. I am so surprised at how smelly they are too but it could just be the genetics!.
They use marketing speak on the site, the pic of the Cree LED says "highest performing silicon-carbide technology". That statement might be true but what most people don't know is Cree uses other tech also that is newer and out performs that LED by a wide margin. It's not that the XT-E is a bad LED,it's just out dated and they don't say what bin they're using which can also have a huge impact on performance. Area 51's line that's being retired for the new model have been using high bin XT-E's. Onyx panels use XM-L2's right now but they are upgrading to XP-L's soon and Area 51 will be using XP-L's in their new panels also. So if you look at performance increase from Cree the order would be XT-E then XM-L then XM-L2 then XP-L.
Your speculating though, you really have no knowledge first hand of the product. Basically your assumptions could go either way however I have the light and compared to the rest you can see the brightness shine through. The xte is hitting 3 feet down, even my smallest nugs are hard as a rock. They are a little pricey and that would be the only reason I would go with Area51 instead. BUT my assumption is based on others experiences and not my own so who knows.
we can all speculate but until you shell out the money and try it there is no real way you can tell others the exact truth of the matter.
(one thing I have noticed is that they run cooler than all the other LED's I have which is surprising because the other models don't run that hot either. But when you are thinking of going big you need to take into account every added temperature of heat so you don't go too hot)
Don't know how I'm speculating or making assumptions when all I did was list facts about Crees LED tech and the order of the generations and efficiencies. I even said the XT-E was a good LED for it's time. I still use LED panels with XT-E's and XM-L2's and I have already retired some of my lights with XT-E's in favor of newer LED tech including CXA 3070's and will soon be getting some XP-L lights.
You have no knowledge of the parts they use and so you assume they are cheap

Please excuse my ignorance, but this seems to have evolved into a discussion about Cree diodes. How come no one has referred once to the Osram diodes included in the Advanced lights? It's a genuine question. Here in Europe, Osram is a well established lighting brand. I know just as little about their LED's as I do Cree's (nothing!), but surely they perform some function in the Advanced XTE panels..?? Is it not possible that the combination of the Cree and Osram diodes used results in enhanced performance?
The OP's first thread asked about the choice between Area 51 and AdvancedXTE which both use Cree XT-E's. Osram has a great reputation too and Area 51 will be switching from Cree reds to Osram reds in their next panel (the reason for that is a change in nm range)and upgrading to Cree XP-L's for their whites. The only point I was trying to make was the age of the XT-E LEDs vs the newer ones.
Thanks for your patience with me. And just as importantly, thanks a lot for the info'.
^^Advanced doesn't say the parts they use, so NO ONE knows. If they don't say, maybe they have something to hide?
You're new here, you should relax, stop lashing out at the people that have been here for years, you won't last too long.

Lasting long isn't a problem of mine
