Advanced Platinum LED?

The problem I see is there are a lot of us noobs out there that will go and try and find info and there is so much out there that it is hard to believe anyone. But just to reassure anyone who is thinking of buying one. My last grow with 99% organic nutes not from a bottle and 1x P300 and 2x HSO Lost Coast Hash Plant
In 5 gal diy grow pots and I got QP dry. Not bad for being a beginner and a so call crappie light. My current and third grow I think I might get 3-4oz per plant. 2x Sweet Seeds Snow Fruit. I truely believe alot of the growing is the grower and then lights, not the lights then grower.

First pic is current 2x Sweet Seeds Snow Fruit(13 days into flower)

Second pic is last grow 2x HSO Lost Coast Hash Plant (right before harvest)
Crap is all relative.

For the price Platinum (Blackdog too) should perform a lot better than they are performing.

1 gram per watt is something you should be able to achieve with generic 80 lm/w LED bulbs (With the diffuser popped off). And 1 g/w is something experienced growers are doing with the Platinum.
Though any decent higher powered led bulb these days should put out 100 lm/w.
And unlike overpriced LED panels, generic bulbs are actually somewhat price competitive with HID.

Why would I buy a 370 dollar growlight when I can do the same for much less money with some generic bulbs?
It's expensive even compared to COB panels, and Citizen/Vero/Cree cobs are a lot more efficient.

The worst thing about this, in my opinion, is the time wasted. Think about it. Most closet growers probably don't know a bunch of other growers. Their grow is the only one they know. They'll bang away at it, grow after grow, using lights that will never give them the yield that high-quality lights could.

All that time wasted. In a way, it'd be a blessing for all those blurple lights to die and force an upgrade.

This is not to offend anyone who's achieving success with low-quality lights. If you're getting some bud, my hat's off to you. But I guarantee you could do better...

I was really skeptical about the whole thing and wanted to go hps/mh but heat is and was an issue. I know I spent too much on old technology but regardless this current grow will at least be at or above 1gpw. Honestly frica you are correct about the cost but so far 1 p300 has shown me ok results for first time grow. But notice I said ok. I've seen first hand what traditional lighting does and it was nowhere near that. But in the desert summer months I didn't notice any diff in electric bill cause of the A/C cooling the house and I was growing in a 1/2 bathroom with the p300 hanging from an adustable PVC stand to hold the light. Super Ghetto setup. Still got 3oz with no experience except videos and stuff I saw a buddy do 7 years ago. So if you have the light and don't want to go through the the hassle of returning it just be a better grower that's all. Just my 2 pennies.

Def would be better but money gets in the way and the misinformed and honestly scared and nervous peeps like I was are the ones that get taken advantage of

You don't get what you want without risk and even stupid risks are a start. This site has really helped me and Jason the grow boss videos honestly helped me too. He is just to the point no mystery about it. That's how I went from wtf am I doing to wtf am I doing with better results.

My whole problem with Platinum is that they're a dishonest company.

Iirc they also got kicked from 420magazine because of wrong/dishonest claims, and 420 has always been a site tolerant to their sponsors.

If it's already bought, then no harm in using it even if it will eventually be a glorified vegger.
It's just that I don't want anymore people buying from them because the company is dishonest and the lights simply aren't worth that much money.
For 2 dollar per watt, "ok" should never be enough.

The timber growlights should wow you.

Also are you going to use a growbox in your next grow?

Sooooooooooo. The honest answer to the whole debate in my opinion, considering I'm new to growing and used the p300. Go with the cob setups. Diy was to difficult for me and way too much upfront cost with soldering and wires and electricity and dummy with electrical= timber grow lights. I bought the 200w so I can spread the lights how I want them and when I'm fully convinced I'll throw in another 200w kit connect them to one power cord and I now upgraded to 400w tent from one plug. Dan was super helpful with my noob questions and told me I could link 2x 200w systems together so I don't have wires everywhere

Anybody ever return a blackdog light for repair? I bought the platinum model(think it 750watt) last year and a few diodes were out. I contacted the company and they assured me that it was no big deal, finish my grow and contact them to have it fixed. It is not under warranty as I am not the original purchaser but they said they get a much cheaper shipping rate and would assist me. They were very reassuring. Now I am going to give it a shot but thought I would ask you guys if anyone else. Thank you

On timber's site look under framework- that has the ready to go, kits need wired and own framing made. You can diy but above my level so once have the funds I'm pretty well set on 2x200w citizen framework setups.

That's cool if they're going to service it. Or maybe it's time for an upgrade that will be dependable & yield you more.
