I was given a 3 week old autoflower that had been growing in a storage container under a bunch of cfls. its been toped two times now already before the two weeks ive had it now and it looks like a little green puff ball. Im fairly sure it is root bound in the little pot it is in now, i will re pot soon. The question I needed answered was if its alright to keep this plant in veg under my 600w metal halide for a couple more weeks? Can i draw more time out of the life cycle?-

well 1st off if its been topped 2 times is probably stunned most autos don't like being topped let alone 2 times... by week 3 most autos are showing sex but topping can stun then and slow them down..how big is the plant? pot? ect..pics perhaps? and yea autos stay in 18/6, 20/4 or 24/0 light from start to end...no you cant really draw more time out of the life cycle, if there in there veg there in veg, when they start budding they bud, when there done budding there done.you have no control over what part of the cycle there in...the trick with autos is to get it as big and healthy as you can as fast as you can so you don't end up with a popsicle stick with 3g of bud on it..

In a word, no.

Conventional ruderalis-based autoflowers have a fixed lifespan and can't be preserved in vegetative state.

Once your plant hits its genetically pre-determined end of life, at 8 or 9 weeks or whatever, then it will die.

Your best bet is just to try and maximize its growth throughout its lifespan, so you end up with the biggest/best plant at the end.

Now that said, there are *some* autoflowers that are basically "weak" autoflowers, and *might* respond to full 24 hour lighting without flowering. For example, Dr. Greenthumbs Iranian autoflower is supposedly like this. But chances are what you have isn't one of these.

its in a five gallon bucket now under the 600hps with a 400w mh as a side light. The plant only gets 12 hours of light now because it is with normal photoperiod plants. pics soon
