ADHD and other medical problems?

As of right now I do not have my California Medical Marijuana Card. But I've got a heart problem (a bicuspid aortic valve with a leak to be specific), a form of asthma, hyperthyroidism, high pulse and hight blood pressure because of the hyperthyroidism and the heart problem, I have really bad ADHD, sleeping problems due to the ADHD, and a lack of appetite caused by the ADHD medication and sleeping medication.
I was wondering if I would be better off getting my medical marijuana card in California to possibly get rid of some of the medications I take (like adderall and ambien among others). I see a psychiatrist in order to get prescriptions for the adderall and ambien so should I go to the psychiatrist or should I go to my regular doctor? If I get my card and things don't work out, am I still allowed to have my card while also being prescribed adderall and ambien or would I have to pick either just my card or just my present medications? I haven't smoked, vaped, or ate and form of marijuana in my 20 years because of my asthma and the lack of knowledge of marijuana on certain medical conditions. Now that its starting to be tested more and the knowledge is out there I am looking into it after being around it for +/-5 years. Any help on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

MMJ is great for Stress and Insomnia. You will need to take your current meds to a 215 Clinic to get your recommendation, which is good for a year.

Given your asthma, you might want to lean more towards the edibles, but don't pull a Moreen Dowd and eat the whole thing in one sitting, break it up into pieces and go slow until you find your dosage. A little indica at night to help you sleep, and a little sativa during the day to keep you focused and social. Everything in moderation! And YES, you should be able to ditch some of the Big Pharma Pills.

Good luck!!!

Well you can't get a med card from a reg doctor or psychiatrist, you have to google medical marijuana doctors as their office is specifically related to marijuana and only marijuana. I found my doc on weedmaps.com. Also once you buy the recommendation for medical marijuana you will now have access to all marijuana clinics just with your reccomendation. I've heard that some cops are dbags and they will rip up your rec and arrest you and then you'll have to prove your a medical marijuana patient in court. But that is where I have problems, because since there is no contact with the medical marijuana doctor they could get raided or go out of business and who knows where their files will be or even if you can get ahold of them, so make sure to make copies of your recommendation as well, otherwise you might get messed up by this system.

I would def smoke pot instead of taking sleep meds. Those are the worse to get dependent on. And yes it will help with adhd too. And I have a friend that doesn't even buy inhalers anymore because he says the marijuana cured his asthma (But those results can vary with different patients).

As for the blood pressure and heart rate I would do a little more research on how weed can effect you.

And if the pot doesnt work as you would prefer yes you can still keep the rec. I don't think that anything will nullify it unless somehow the clinic you got it from is running fraudulent practices.

Also remember all the advice from those TV commercials that are trying to get us on meds, they always say "Don't stop taking your medication unless directed by a doctor first." So Id be very very careful trying to replace your meds with pot.

Thanks guys. That was actually a ton of new info, right to the point instead of searching through laws and books on google. My brother has been smoking/eating for 3 or 4 years now, he doesn't have the medical issues I have but he will eat a whole brownie and then drive home simply because the guy gave it to him for free and we both have really fast metabolisms so I have no idea how much would be enough for me, of course he's in Nevada where the laws are different on the sale if you know what I mean. My parents hate how he smoked behind their back, and are the cliche "disappointed" that he smokes marijuana. I have been told, mostly by my mom, that she would be shocked and terrified if I smoked and that, I am not like him and that I am better than that. I mean I am better than him of course, but I've been taking narcotics since I was in elementary school via my ADHD meds so I am not above smoking/eating by any means! I might bring it up to my parents, and then at a cardiologist (heart doctor) appointment to see what the doc has to say about the positive/negative effects on my heart. I have to go to my cardiologist appointments with my parents becausethey pay for it, if they stick a needle in me I am at risk of passing out and unable to drive, and it keeps them updated about the situation so going to the appointment without them is not an option, forcing me to talk to them about it beforehand to avoid surprises while at the appointment. Knowing my mom, she would research the heck out of it and probably disprove of it. My dad would be all for it, he went to Chico during the party/riot era so he has seen his fair share of marijuana. I also hung out with him and his friends one time and pretty much everyone except me and him were smoking (he drives a forklift and is subject to random drug tests so he doesn't take the risk). My dad also hates all the medications I take, I've lost 15 pound in 3 months because of Adderall and he hates my dependance on sleeping pills as well. My mom has a rare sleeping condition/sleeping cycle so she takes sleeping pills to, but my dad says that I'm only 20 and I should need pills to fall asleep. He even brought up smoking marijuana to me in private and we talked about it and stuff, even had his Dr. friend give his opinion (he's a chiropractor so not an actual doctor) but his Dr. friend said some of his patients smoke to relive pain and he sees no physical side effects in them.
Thanks again though, and if anyone has more to add, anything and everything is always welcome.

I remember my Mom telling my the Japanese were terrible people and bla bla bla..
I smoked cigarettes for 42 years and was a alcoholic for 20 years. I got my card and quit both in a year.
My wife has copd and smoking helps.
I have high blood pressure and was taking 2 different pills to control it, I'm down to 1 pill now.
Marijuana doesn't cure every thing.
And some times it can only let us die with dignity and some grace were as pills
just take us sooner while we are still alive.
You just lay there puking and out of your head not knowing wtf is going on around you.
I probably know your Dad I went to PV and graduated in 71. :D
