Adding small lights

My grow room is just a little small, and once my plants get big they might lack some light on the lower levels. I was thinking of either mounting them on the side walls, or hanging some small lights on strings from the ceiling, so that they hang under the main canopy. These would have to be real small and not give off much heat, cause it would be impossible to cool them effectively.

I searched a little and came up with these small led lights:

Anyone tried something similar? How did it work out for you? Can you suggest better lights that are that small, battery powered and not too hot?

Merci beaucoup!

I had this exact idea the other day. Low wattage CFLs could work quite well I reckon.

How small an area are we talking about ?

I looked at those little lights in the link you gave & i cant see them having any effect on budding at all, they are extremely under powered.

If you can fit them in the grow area try using cfl's or floro tube shop lights with natural daylight bulbs, both are cool enough where they can touch plant matter without burning the plant.

They might have worked if they were red and blue, but just plain white LEDs, are just a waste of time...

Just get small CFLs. Good ones to use that don't put off much heat are 13w bulbs [60w equivalent] or 26w bulbs [100w equivalent].

Ok, I've looked some more at cfls, I originally wanted something battery powered but I guess I would have to change the batteries all the time.
I guess I'll go for the CFLs and just work with it. It's just that I'm running one 250W hps right now which I'll eventually swap with my 400W, 3 fans, a carbon and ionic filter, and it's a lot of wires and things to plug in, especially for a 4x4x8 space.
Unless anyones got a better idea, cfls it is.

i did something like that in my grow, dont waste your time with those lights and get some cfl's i was using a 600 hps and a 430 and i added a few 26 watt cfl's in the dark corners of the tent and it worked out great, what i did notice with the cool whits bulbs was a little bit of stretching of the buds they were shining right on

The 25 watt cfl's work better than i thought they would, ive got one corner that gets low light when one of my light movers is at the oposite end of the room,i used a few 25/100 watt cfl's in that corner & they hooked me right up.

Im starting to see why some people like using them for the entire grow, they really are not that bad.
